Phlebotomist Lead - Full Time, Days (Tustin)

The Phlebotomist Lead coordinates and oversees preanalytical laboratory services, phlebotomy staff, and functions on the unit, while maintaining an advanced level of skills and expertise. Performs venipuncture procedures for clinical or medical testing and transfusions. Responsible for procuring blood samples from patients and labeling accurately to preserve the integrity of specimens and for proper transporting, processing and preparation of all samples. Reviews lab requisitions and performs quality review and troubleshooting. Ensures adequate supplies and inventory, and performs all clerical functions including but not limited to data entry, maintaining records, answering phones and providing reports. Provides support and facilitates communications by effectively navigating computer and phone systems, building and maintaining customer relationships, and providing a positive, professional and empathetic understanding to all customers. Troubleshoots and resolves issues as they arise. Functions as a role model and clinical resource to staff.
Job Responsibilities/Duties
Minimum Education: None.
Minimum Experience: Three (3) years of applicable clinical lab work experience required. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the hospital. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Must be willing to work variable shifts and overtime as required. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Previous leadership experience preferred. Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families preferred.
Req. Certification/Licensure: California Certified Phlebotomy Technician required. Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only) required.
