Enterprise Architecture (EA) consolidates accountability for technology choices and solution design across the Technology Group (TG) and the full portfolio, ensuring consistent leadership in the solution design process. EA:


  • Elevates the discussion and strategic value of technology within each business area and simplifies access to enterprise level architects

  • Sets enterprise architecture policies and standards to facilitate uniform, practical, and efficient product development

  • Actively engages and collaborates with System IT architects and FRS stakeholders

The outcome is that FRBNY’s overall architecture blueprint and roadmap are developed and clearly communicated to Business, Technology Leaders and COO, resulting in uniform, practical, and efficient product development in FRBNY as a result of EA policies and guidelines.

Your role as Data Architect:


  • Lead creation and drive to adaption of enterprise Data Architecture Vision, Strategy, Standards, Roadmap and Design the Data Architecture best practices/patterns to be implemented as a repeatable process for Data ingestion, cleansing, wrangling, governance, and features needed for End-to-End Data Lifecycle management

  • A data architect is a technical leader with a deep understanding of business goals, business processes and data architecture who designs and supports the development of technology solutions to ensure that solutions meet business needs and align with architectural standards.

  • Represent EA as a leader of large and complex portfolio of solutions supporting and aligned with business products.

  • Propose architecture solutions based on business and technology considerations. Create architectural designs to guide and contextualize solution development as a bridge between technical and business audiences during solution development.

  • Map processes, capabilities, and data object models to application types and specific solutions in application landscape for assigned area

  • Promote re-use and shared services to reduce complexity of the technology portfolio

  • Lead evaluation, design, and analysis of enterprise-wide solutions.

  • Translate business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives.

  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture, information security, applications and infrastructure teams to produce optimal designs.

  • Ensure compliance of solutions to architectural standards.

  • Act as a subject matter expert on technologies and trends in your domain of expertise.

  • Act as a consultant on a broad range of technologies, platforms and vendor offerings.

  • Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the technologies, standards, processes and current/target state architectures for data across the enterprise.

  • Designs and maintains of common data models within assigned domains as part of an overall common data model (including central IT-specification of business objects for technical integration)

  • Coordinate data distribution and consolidation across different sources (IT applications and enterprise data stores)

  • Design enterprise-wide data solutions ensuring compliance of data integration between applications

  • Determine tools and strategies to address business problems through modern data architecture concepts, modeling and understanding key business processes and impact of technology on business processes

  • Ensure project level solutions adhere to strategic direction in terms of the technologies, standards, processes, and current/target state architectures for data across the enterprise.

  • Ensure project level solutions, data governance and data quality align with the strategy and architecture for managing enterprise data

  • Work with project level business and IT stakeholders to ensure data solutions address business and IT objectives.

  • Lead design, development, implementation, and maintenance efforts of all levels of complexity related to data systems and solutions.

  • Develop project level conceptual, logical, and physical data models, as well as data integration pipelines to support data analysis and business intelligence solutions.

  • Track, evaluate and recommend emerging technologies for relevant data management, data science, storage, and analytic technologies.

  • Participate in working groups comprised of Federal Reserve System Data architects and Information Management workgroups, and continuous learning through attending data architecture-related conferences, seminars, and events

You will be an individual contributor residing in EA and reporting to the Department Head of Data Architecture. You will be an experienced and independent Data Architect professional with demonstrated expertise, business involvement, and ability to work in a matrix operating model and federated environment.

What we are looking for:


  • Relevant experience in data warehousing, data modeling, data integration and/or data analysis with 5+ years of relevant work experience. 

  • Ability to relate architectural decisions and recommendations to business needs.

  • Ability to evaluate new and existing tools and technologies to address business needs such as MuleSoft; Apigee; GraphQL; and Kafka.

  • Experience building cloud based integrations via API's would be a plus.

  • Hands on Experience with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, Hadoop, Snowflake, Lakehouse Formation and Data Mesh concepts) and ETL/Business Intelligence tools, including cloud-based offerings (AWS, Azure)

  • Experience developing reference architecture, principles, and standards

  • Have 1 or more data related certifications with emphasis on cloud services

  • In-depth knowledge of current and latest data technology, DAMA standards and frameworks, enterprise architecture modeling tools (Mega HOPEX preferred), information management trends and industry developments with experience managing critical data infrastructure and the changing technology needs of a modern knowledge workforce.

  • Conduct hands-on and present results of proof of concepts to multiple partners within and outside of EA. Knowledge of AWS Cloud Data related services, Java, Python or other relevant programming skills is desirable.

  • Ability to adapt to continually changing priorities and aggressive project timeframes.

  • Experience managing and driving diverse project portfolio, working with customers and colleagues.
