ERM is hiring an Equipment Safety Consultant in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. This position is this position is a limited-term, part-time hours role for the duration of 3 months with possible extension. This role will be to help large, well-known companies address a wide array of health and safety (H&S) challenge such as:
Equipment Safety Assessments
Safety Risk Assessments and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA)
Process Hazard Assessment
Machine Guarding
Electrical Safety/Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)/NFPA 70E
Contractor and Construction Safety
And many others
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assigned to client site as part of the ERM team to help solve their most pressing H&S challenges
Conduct inspections, investigations, safety observations, job safety analysis and risk assessments and resulting mitigation activities that will identify, evaluate and control unsafe health & safety hazards or risks.
Reviewing equipment data sheets
Working with team to complete equipment assessment forms to identify safety requirements based on equipment type and region
Communicating these requirements to business unit
Physically reviewing equipment to identify any design deficiencies (grounding, wiring, interlocks, fire enclosure, etc.) - typically in accordance with IEC 61010-1
Reviewing safety certification certificates and reports for completeness and accuracy
Experience with 61010 (lab, measurement, control equipment) and 60204 (machines) equipment safety.
Administrative activities to keep track of documents and communications for each project
Assist in the development of solutions to complex technical and regulatory issues and concerns
Enable our clients’ business objectives and help them achieve these objectives – in essence become an extension of their EHS team compliance support.
Manage a variety of tasks to achieve scope, budget and schedule targets while ensuring we meet and exceed our clients expectations on deliverables
Build client relationships and nurture repeat business by continuously striving to exceed their expectations
Delegate to and work with the project team to effectively implement assignments for client as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
Project support at a minimum of 16 hours per week through September 30, 2022 and likely beyond.
BS/MS in safety, occupational health, engineering, or related science degree
Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in working with significant private-sector clients in R&D or manufacturing environments
Solid understanding of the relevant local, state and federal regulations and how they apply to specific industries; background in technology desired
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple & technically assignments concurrently. Organized, analytical, detail-oriented, problem-solver, project management skills and strong focus on results, and ability to work independently.
Ability to effectively participate in cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and diverse environment, where support responsibilities may be shared by several parties.
Ability to effectively communicate and send clear, concise, and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing including the ability to present tangible information to management. Able to effectively communicate up to senior leadership level.
Ability to take action when changes in the working environment occur, and escalate concerns as-needed to management and other parties.
Be ethical, responsive, and positive.
Ability to deal with ambiguity from clients, regulators, and other stakeholders, and high sensitivity to proprietary information.
Ability to travel within the U.S.; good driving record.
