KSTU, Scripps' FOX station in Salt Lake City, Utah, is seeking a Lead OverDrive Newscast Director to join the team!  This is an opportunity to work at the #1 station in the market, in one of the fastest growing and family friendly cities in the nation! 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Direct all assigned newscasts and assist Producers in the preparation of newscasts.  Will serve as Team Lead and subject matter expert.  Responsible for developing/maintaining shortcuts and backup procedures. 


  • Direct assigned newscast with minimal amount of errors

  • Service as Team Lead and Subject Matter Expert

  • Prepare studio for newscast

  • Work with Producers prior and during each newscast to create an excellent on-air product

  • Suggest camera shots, graphics, and other production elements

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of other equipment used in the production of our newscast

  • Manage and maintain all aspects of automation, including coding and functions

  • Develop/Maintain/Communicate backup procedures for all Directors

  • Assist in maintaining all broadcast equipment within control room

  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:


  • HS diploma

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Prior OverDrive experience strongly preferred

  • 1-3 years prior related experience

  • Team Lead experience preferred

  • Extensive knowledge in all areas of video production

  • Knowledge of newsroom computer systems

  • In-depth knowledge of automation systems

  • Knowledge of studio lighting board

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:


  • Ability to formulate, block, and direct newscasts

  • Ability to direct in a fast-paced, rapidly changing production for extended periods

  • Prior OverDrive experience, preferred

  • Working knowledge of state-of-the-art video switchers and effects

  • Familiar with routers, video servers, auto consoles, robotic studio cameras, graphics systems, and studio production equipment

  • Good computer skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Ability to view multiple video and computer monitors

  • Ability to work flexible work hours, including holidays, weekends, evening, and possible overnights
