As a(n) Technology Engineer Sr (Senior Observability Engineer) within PNC's ET&S organization, you will be based anywhere PNC has a foot print or remote.

As a Senior Observability Engineer, this resource will be responsible for defining, configuring, maintaining, and maximizing the platform in support of monitoring the health & availability of our applications & infrastructure visible. PNC leverages several leading-edge observability and monitoring tools and is looking to onboard an engineer that will take the platform to the next level. The resource will be applying DevOps principles to manage the platform and assist with delivering enhanced functionality and driving adoption through continuous improvement, simplification, and automation. As we implement and integrate with our AIOPs platform, the candidate will work on the alignment, optimization and strategy of our observability tools and platform. The resource will be part of a team of observability/monitoring, SRE and SRC engineers to ensure the health, availability and reliability of our applications and infrastructure.

Roles & Responsibilities:
• Provides expertise on observability engineering, while overseeing the team's effort and meeting customer needs.
• Implement, maintain, and consult on the observability and monitoring platform that supports the needs of multiple internal stakeholders.
• Grow and evangelize the capabilities of the observability platform.
• Continue to evolve the observability platform providing thoughtful & strategic leadership
• Leads in the development of the most complex new and emerging technologies and selects appropriate platforms, integrates and configures solutions. Leverages technical knowledge and industry experience to design, build and maintain technology solutions.
• Provides expertise on best practices, standards, engineering approaches and complex technical resolutions for processes.
• Places emphasis on quality improvement efforts; ensures that deliverables are secure, scalable and reliable through estimation and correction.
• Communicates with customers and integrates their needs with development, to meet business objectives.
• Serves as a mentor/trusted advisor to junior staff.
• Oversees the quality of complex project deliverables while ensuring compliance with relevant standards and processes.
• Complete user requests and on-call support for all observability/monitoring tools.

Skill Set/Technologies:
• Experience with the following: Observability platform, supporting monitoring tools and automation concepts
• Linux & Windows OS experience
• Experience/proficient in scripting (Ansible, Python, Bash)
• Passion and desire to learn and apply new technologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Provides a systematic analysis on the most complex client requirements within the traceability framework and resolves any functional problems encountered.

  • Oversees the quality of complex project deliverables while ensuring that they are in compliance with relevant standards and processes.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 5+ years of industry-relevant experience. Specific certifications are often required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Additional Job Description

This is a remote position and can sit anywhere within the PNC footprint, except for Colorado, Hawaii or Alaska. There is limited expectation for regular in person, in office activities.

Base Salary: Commensurate with skills and experience.
