As a Security Engineer within PNC's Enterprise Technology & Security organization, this is a remote position within the Pittsburgh, PA market. Surrounding markets may be considered. In person activities may occur periodically based on business need.

Job Description:

As a Security Engineer for PNC's Azure AD and AAD, you will be at the innovative front lines with our clients. Supporting them with their cloud needs, specifically helping them address Azure Active Directory solutions and navigate the journey to the cloud. This will include but not limited too:

+ Assist in business development activities such as defining scope of services, building resource solutions, Identity Governance access packages and supporting the delivery to the client for Azure Identity needs.

+ Function as the primary client day to day interface building rapport and trust with the client

+ Review and oversee identity project deliverables such as innovation solutions, automation efforts, assessment reports, Identity designs/ identity architectures risks and security recommendations to protect identity’s in the bank.

+ Maintain strong domain knowledge of Azure AD and AAD solutions.

+ Lead the execution of AD and AAD security engagements during different phases of the lifecycle - assess, design, and implementation. AAD may include the full and broad features set of the platform as defined in PNC's Azure tenants.

+ Lead engagements to perform technical identity checks for AD and AAD platforms/environments prior to broader deployments.

+ Oversee technical support for AD and AAD and resolve service-related issues through research and troubleshooting with teams and working with vendors.

+ Conducting cloud security analysis, recommendations and configurations of prospective solution sets. This can include Microsoft's cloud solutions such AAD, Microsoft MFA, SSO, Conditional Access, B2B and B2C efforts.

+ Architect, design, and implement large-scale Azure Active Directory /deployments/migrations/upgrades

+ Supporting proof of concept and production deployments of these cloud technologies, end to end solutioning may be required for success.

+ Assisting internal and external teams with transitions to the Microsoft AAD cloud services such as tenant setup and service configuration, focused on cloud idntity risk mitigation. Additional technologies include: Microsoft MFA, SSO, Conditional Access, PIM, B2B and B2C

+ Assisting internal teams with Azure B2B, B2C including SAML, OAUTH, OpenID Connect protocols

+ Assisting teams with Migrating applications (legacy platforms or other) to Azure AD

+ Assisting teams cleaning up the Active Directory environment and prepare them for Azure AD/O365 migration

+ Assisting teams with configuration and delivery of cloud identity security and compliance reports.

+ Providing technical support for AD/AAD services and resolve service-related issues through research and troubleshooting and working with Microsoft.

+ Implementation of industry leading practices around AD/AAD cyber identity risks and cloud security.

+ Troubleshooting system level problems in a multi-vendor, multi-protocol network environment.

+ Documenting platform technical issues, analysis, client communication, and resolution as part of cyber risk mitigation steps.

+ Executing on AD/AAD cloud security engagements during different phases of the lifecycle - assess, design, and implementation & post implementation reviews.

+ Analyze and review Active Directory services such Conditional access Policy, Tags, Locks, etc.

+ Implement Active Directory RBAC model to secure the AD environment

+ Provide internal technical training to advisory personnel as needed.

+ Identify and communicate Identity security control gaps in the Azure environment.

+ Create Jira, ServiceNow, Microsoft Support tickets as needed

Job Description


  • Provides subject matter expertise when applying security concepts. Leverages technical knowledge and industry experience to design, build, and maintain technology solutions. Responsible for deliverables related to project timelines.

  • Responsible for working with architecture to take high level architectural designs and determine the specifics around implementation details (ex: sizing) integration details, onboarding and operationalization.

  • Evaluates patches, updates, and ongoing maintenance. Determines impacts to existing solutions when new standards are implemented. Utilizes change control and other governance processes to ensure alignment of solutions .

  • Develops detailed implementation, configuration, design, and engineering documentation. Build and implement solutions.

  • Works with operational partners to enable transition and day-to-day supportability.

  • Provides engineering support to existing technology in a production environment and collaborating with other groups as required. Seeks opportunities to grow a broad knowledge base to complement specific subject matter expertise.
