Our practice provides owners and facilities managers solutions to a wide range of building envelope, structural and other building systems needs for existing properties of every use, age, and construction type. Our multidisciplinary design and assessment services cover a wide range of needs. Our practice is locally understood to offer Building Science Services for existing buildings.



The Role



We have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Engineer/Designer for our Sustainability Practice.


We are looking for a candidate with an interest in envelope repair, renovation, and retrofit design.



Responsibilities



  • Analyze building science performance for various envelope systems with specialized software, including but not limited to climate analysis, dew point and condensation analysis, U-value and R-value calculations, thermal analysis (THERM), and hygrothermal analysis (WUFI Pro).


  • Prepare technical reports for building science consulting and analysis.


  • Research materials and systems to determine specific project suitability.


  • Perform technical drawing reviews specific to building science details and best practices, including reviewing for thermal bridging and hygrothermal concerns, as well as product recommendations.


  • Assist in the development of in-house tools (existing and new) to optimize our building science capabilities.


  • Interpret local building codes and project/design/construction specifications.


  • Coordinate work with in-house staff as well as other consultants, including architects and other engineering disciplines, cost consultants, and contractors.







Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Building Science, Engineering, or Architecture. Master's degree preferred.


  • 0 - 5 years of relevant full-time experience in building science consulting and analysis. Experience with building envelope investigation and repair preferred.


  • Professional licensure or in the process of obtaining professional licensure.


  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, and experience with technical writing and graphics.


  • Proficient with building science and energy analysis software, including Excel, WINDOW/OPTICS, THERM, and WUFI Pro.


  • Interest in potentially working on-site. Willingness and ability to perform an examination of existing buildings periodically.
