Arconic is seeking a General Mechanic to join our Aluminum Extrusion (AEX) business unit in Lafayette, IN.

Job Duties and Responsibilities :

Primary Functions of the Job
Design, fabricate, install, repair, modify and maintain machines, equipment, structures and facilities.
Tools common to the craft of millwright, pipefitter, welder, layout person, rigger, and blacksmith, such as drill press, saws, abrasive cutoff wheel, grinders and shears.
Pipe fitting equipment.
Welding and burning equipment.
Hoists
Cranes
Non-destructive testing equipment.
Personal computer; PLC terminals.
Basic Qualifications :
The minimum requirements are 5 years journeyperson's experience maintaining heavy equipment with a working knowledge of welding, machine repair, millwright, hydraulics, sheet metal, pipe fitting, and blue prints.
Graduate of an approved apprentice program or have formal technical training beyond high school. Or a Journeyman's card (A Department of Labor Certificate or Equal). Testing and a skills demonstration will be required. Permanent employment subject to probation period not to exceed 6 months.
If you are currently working as a general mechanic, proof of experience and/or a copy of your Journeyman's card must accompany your bid.
