This role will manage growing teams of IT professionals to implement, monitor and support solutions in direct support of Medline manufacturing divisions. The position also will have primary accountability to collaborate with the manufacturing divisions to set strategic technical direction, ensure the availability and performance of existing systems and provide organizational leadership to an organization focused on partnering with the manufacturing divisions to achieve strategic outcomes.

The Director of Manufacturing must have experience with discrete and process manufacturing with accountability for multiple systems requiring high availability and redundancy. This role will focus on several key manufacturing areas, including Inventory Tracking, Quality Control, Production and Planning, Procure to Pay, Warehouse Management and Sales/Distribution. An understanding of kitting/tray packaging is particularly useful although not required as Medline is the largest producer of sterile procedure trays in the US. Knowledge of SAP EWM and Manufacturing capabilities and agile delivery methodologies are required. The Director should be proficient in: high availability systems support, team building, vendor management, crafting a strategic technology investment roadmap, partnering with peers and business leaders to assess needs and manage expectations for availability, implementing monitoring tools and process to provide excellent systems support, and collaborating with various technology groups to optimize delivery and support results.
Responsibilities:
• Lead Manufacturing development, configuration and support functions across all manufacturing sites to ensure sustained, measurable and continuously improving levels of production and performance
• Ensure day-to-day operational support activities are planned and executed at a high standard
• Drive a culture of data driven continuous improvement where the appropriate metrics are defined, measured and most importantly, acted upon
• Build and manage a world class team of support analysts and developers to ensure a best in class manufacturing experience for Medline manufacturing divisions
• Ensure the availability, reliability and security of manufacturing systems
• Support robust change and configuration management practices
• Manage service integrator and other technology vendor relationships
• Collaborate with architecture team in devising the best architecture and designs including an emphasis on standardizing manufacturing processes and procedures
• Research and recommend investment, development, installation, and use of technology improvements
• Mentor and develop team members to enable personal and professional development
• Assess and address team skill and knowledge gaps to ensure the teams consistently have the knowledge, skills and experience to execute Medline's manufacturing roadmap
• Respond to business critical emergency situations related to support of manufacturing systems
• Oversee the development and maintenance of technical documentation
• Provide oversight for team and project managers relative to developing and managing resource plans
• Oversight and guidance relative to staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions

Qualifications:

• BS in Computer Science or related; or equivalent technical experience; Advanced degree (Masters or MBA) preferred
• 4 years of experience integrating packaged software applications
• 8 years of experience managing manufacturing design/development/configuration/support teams
• 3 years of experience managing managers
• 4 years of experience with SAP S4 HANA manufacturing platform or earlier SAP manufacturing versions
• Experience migrating manufacturing production facilities to a new manufacturing platform
• Experience directing both onshore and offshore teams
• Understanding of application lifecycles
• Understanding of diverse application development practices (including both waterfall and agile methodologies)
• Understanding of financial and revenue models
• Kitting, sterile procedure tray production or other medical device manufacturing experience a plus
• Strong prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
• Ability to work with and influence senior management
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
• High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook, and Internet applications
