Engineering Technician at PPG INDUSTRIES INC in Sylmar, California

Job Description:

PPG Aerospace is now hiring an Engineering Technician ! As an Engineering Technician, you will assist the engineer in new research and/or existing manufacturing projects

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the engineer in new research and/or existing manufacturing projects
• Aid the engineer in overseeing the testing areas at Sylmar facilities
• Help to build/maintain/improve the test facilities at Sylmar facilities
• Review test data; document and organize
• Formulate & conduct simple experiments, including observing and recording accurate times, movement of product, and any additional pertinent data
• Conduct power testing, and other testing as necessary
• Assist to update internal electrical specifications with verification from RF Engineer
• Review and update SOPs
• Close out manufacturing work orders; train others on this function
• Participate in classes or training on relevant topics; conduct training to other potential users - show & tell
• Ability to engage vendors regarding service of equipment or buying new/used equipment
• Interact with other functional areas, including manufacturing, quality control, sales engineering, and potentially other parts of PPG
• Some occasional travel may be required

Qualifications :

• US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
• Some College or Trade/Technical School OR Relevant industry experience
• College Degree a plus
• Moderate to advanced Excel skills
• General to proficient Matlab skills
• Ability to learn and manipulate PPG's proprietary testing software; eventually becoming independent with modifying parameters
• Must be willing to follow all environmental safety and health and overall work rules and policies.
