Overview

The Senior Engineer/Scientist at Cook Medical is a leading technical contributor in the Corporate Development team, tasked with identifying and evaluating growth opportunities for Cook. This role is responsible for evaluating new opportunities based on clinical need, technical merit and business objectives and turning detailed analyses into succinct, decision-ready strategic insights. The successful candidate will have prior experience in the biomedical domain, rigorous analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and powerful communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead large-scale or multiple projects or studies with a high degree of independence.


• Contribute scientific and technical expertise and direction to the Corporate Development team and other company business functions.


• Assume responsibility for interpreting data, organizing, executing, and coordinating project activities.


• Understand unmet clinical, market, technology, and business needs through application of technical knowledge.


• Provide technical input on defining project priorities and company product goals.


• Identify and solve function-level and team-level problems.


• Act as a mentor to other personnel in their teams.


• Provide technical and strategic input on managing company intellectual property relevant to area of work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science (e.g. polymer chemistry, material science, chemistry, biomedical engineering) or Engineering (e.g. biomedical, material science, chemical) with 5+ years of experience;

• Master's degree in Science or Engineering with 3 + years relevant experience;

• Ph.D. in Science or Engineering, with 2+ years relevant experience;

• Proven technical ability and leadership skills in mentoring and training


• Personal protective equipment including safety glasses, lab coat and gloves required in many areas associated with this position


• Sitting for extended periods, utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers, etc.


• Work under general office environmental conditions


• Collaborate and interact effectively and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the global organization


• Strictly adhere to safety requirements


• Maintain regular and punctual attendance


• Maintain company quality and quantity standards


• Effective oral, written and presentation communication skills


• Work in collaborative and independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision


• Remain calm and receptive in fast paced situations


• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
