Your role at Samsonite:

As a key member of the corporate tax group reporting to the VP of Global Tax, you will support and advise management on all domestic tax reporting and compliance issues in order to be compliant with IFRS, IRS or other regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for U.S. Federal and State tax reporting and compliance. Additional functions include audit management, participation in M&A due diligence, tax planning, and mentoring/development of tax staff. You'll work closely with the corporate finance group, US operations group, legal, treasury and HR to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of tax information.


  • Prepare U.S. Federal and State tax provision (current and deferred), assist in preparing consolidated tax footnote and disclosures in accordance with IFRS. Interface with corporate accounting, international tax, and outside auditing firm.

  • Manage quarterly U.S. tax provision forecasting for purposes of estimated tax payments; provide cash tax forecasts to management.

  • Perform/Manage/Direct related software/systems development and implementation.

  • Responsible for all Federal, State, and local tax compliance; identification and implementation of tax planning opportunities/incentives; and to proactively manage calendars, procedures, data systems and staff duties.

  • Responsible for monthly global tax rate calculation; monthly forecasting of global tax rate; and for annual tax budgeting working with FP&A group

  • Manage external tax audits and third-party advisors.

  • Participate in M&A due diligence and tax planning as well as manage integration of all tax aspects of new acquisitions.

  • Manage and advise on U.S. tax structural changes and manage data systems improvements and integrations.

  • Manage staff development; organize meetings and staff training and periodically review department organizational structure.


We're excited if you have:


  • 10+ years of corporate tax experience in a global advisory firm or multinational company

  • Advanced degree relevant to tax required; MST preferred, CPA required

  • Strong technology skills: Advanced Excel & Microsoft Office required; One Source Tax provision and Compliance Software desired.

  • Demonstrated 10+ years of managerial experience

  • FIN 48; IFRS; FAS123; ASC 740/IAS 12 experience

  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal and communication skills

  • Strong leadership, problem solving, decision making skills


Preferred Skills and Industry experience:

  • SAP, Vertex software and Hyperion experience preferred

  • Big 4 experience

  • Consumer products, $4B company size and includes global experience
