Position Summary: The Project Accounting Manager-Engineering works under the guidance of and assists the Director of Project Accounting, the Finance/Accounting team and Operations team in managing the oversight, preparation, analysis, and distribution of internal financial reporting. Responsibilities will include accounting and other special projects assigned by management from time to time and are summarized below.
Essential Functions:
Manage the monthly accounting close process including analytical review of monthly operating results to ensure accurate, fair, and complete accounting records are maintained
Assist with the Company’s annual close process
Prevent inaccuracies in financial statements by setting up internal control systems and adopting proper policies for financial reporting
Document and standardize transaction processes. Review and recommend process improvements.
Review and analyze various account reconciliations
Review contracts to ensure revenue transactions are recorded in accordance with ASC 606
Review and monitor AP costs and cost accruals to ensure appropriate cutoff
Assist in communication and scheduling with external auditors
Manage and assist with external audit requests related to project accounting
Manage, review, and assist with providing data to key operations and finance personnel on receivable metrics and KPI’s with emphasis to improved cash cycle
Review and assist the operations and billing teams in the timely and accurate billing of all customer accounts
Manage, review, and assist with providing operating cost data, including contract labor accruals, per diem spend, and other items that may arise from time-to-time
High visibility and interaction with senior management including Division President and Vice Presidents. Assist with communication of results and analysis to CEO, COO, CFO and corporate senior management.
Prepare various business models to assist in forecasting and contract pricing
Assist with special projects as requested by executive management
Assist with financial system implementation and upgrades
Requirements:
Bachelor and/or Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate information and recommendations in a concise and timely manner to managers, operations, peers and key customer and supplier relationships
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical accounting literature, and/or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, technical memoranda, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain control and order over same
Strong US GAAP and financial reporting technical skills
Exceptional work ethic
Thorough knowledge of Excel, including Pivot Tables and advanced functions
Oracle experience is preferred but not required.
5+ years of experience in the accounting and finance sector
“Big Four” or national accounting firm audit experience is preferred but not required.
Strong experience in both the private and public accounting sectors is preferred but not required.
Engineering and Construction experience is preferred but not required.
