Sanitor Technician - Operation Tech at Dean Foods in Ventura, California

Job Description:

General Purpose:



The 1st shift Plant Sanitation Technician is responsible for plant sanitation working with Operations Technician during CIP (Cleaning in Place) to accomplish overall cleanest within the plant. Working with QC Lab Technician and Quality Assurance Manger on the master sanitation plan for the plant.



Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Ensure safe operations through adherence to Environmental, Health and Safety programs and procedures. Actively participate in BBS

  • Sanitation duties include cleaning up spilled product, cleaning overhead dust from piping and equipment using hand brushes and compressed air, changing out water buckets, sweeping and dust mopping floors and detail cleaning of floors, walls, piping, and equipment.

  • Must be able to own, modify and execute a master sanitation schedule.

  • Solid understanding of HAACP program and the ability to assure the program is being followed.

  • Participate in task meetings; suggest changes in work tasks and use of equipment to increase efficiencies.

  • Function as an engaged team member and contribute to the site's continuous improvement efforts.

  • Follow all DFA GMP's and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality and sanitation requirements.


Required
Minimum Qualifications:



Education and Experience




  • High School diploma

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Thorough understanding of SDS sheets and how to interpret them.

  • Solid mechanical aptitude to be able to disassemble equipment for cleaning, then reassemble properly.

  • Ability to troubleshoot elementary mechanical and fluid problems when sanitation processes require intervention beyond normal cleaning.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and change priorities when conditions beyond one's control require immediate changes.

  • Solid understanding of AIB concepts, matrix and expectations.

  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions in the English language.

  • Obtain power truck and aerial lift certification in 90 days



Physical Demands and Work Environment:



  • Ability to move heavy objects (50 lbs or more) short distances (20ft or less), climb ladders or steps to access equipment, bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time, while cleaning around a piece of equipment, work in small, cramped areas, work with cleaning fluid, effluent, chemicals, paints, and cleaning agents or similar solutions.

Licensing and Certification:



  • Must have documentation showing legal authority to work in the United States. Valid state Driver's License.
