Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Technician, at Amsted Seals Hebron, a division of Amsted Rail.   Through direct sales and partnership programs, this business will continue to expand its service offerings into new industry applications. Amsted Seals is the culmination of a highly successful innovation project, which has since evolved into an entirely new business of its own.   In addition to this Hebron, IL location we have our Amsted Seals Center of Excellence located in Petersburg, Virginia (sharing a campus with Amsted Rail’s Brenco Bearing Business), we have our Commercial Vehicle engineering focus based in Vancouver, WA (at the ConMet Test Center) as well as we have additional locations in Ningbo, China, Chicago, IL,  and joint ventures in Phillipsburg, NJ and Jaipur, India.  Additionally, we are currently expanding our business inside and outside of the US.

Position Summary:
As our Quality Technician you will perform basic quality assignments following established Amsted Seals/Amsted Rail policies. You will perform technical tasks which contribute to the planning and execution of quality projects, manufacturing process and part assembly. You will work closely with the Quality Engineer and shop floor personnel on a variety of tasks related to the assembly and inspection. You will be required to follow all quality requirements following ISO 9001. You will work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire lifecycle of the product and processes within and outside of the Hebron, IL location.

 

What you will do:


  • Adhere to plant-wide safety, ergonomics and environmental requirements defined by Amsted Seals; outlined by the Amsted Seals Health & Safety program

  • Assist in the maintenance and updating of work instructions and forms within the Quality Management System

  • Maintain professional contact with suppliers

  • Maintain the calibration system, including coordinating with calibration suppliers or performing calibration of measurement equipment

  • Inspection using calipers, micrometers, height gage, Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) and other inspection devices as needed

  • Create inspection programs on CMM and analyze data

  • Complete receiving, first piece and in-process inspection

  • Receive product using the ERP system SAP

  • Conduct or participate in internal audit program

  • Assist in troubleshooting and/or resolution of quality related issues in day-to-day production areas

  • Perform basic housekeeping to keep area clean, safe and organized

  • Go to additional product related training as needed

  • Work independently and/or as part of a team

  • Perform other duties as assigned including support assembly and other operation functions as needed

 

What we are looking for (requirements):


  • High School Diploma, or equivalent GED

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing Environment

  • 1-year engineering or quality specific experience

  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office (Excel proficient preferred), SAP, MES, etc.

  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written, presentation experience, etc.

  • Strong troubleshooting and logic reasoning

  • Strong mechanical fundamentals and analytical background

  • Proven track record of successful self-direction to achieve goals

  • Must possess high energy and be highly adaptable to work in a nimble, innovative, and fast pace environment that supports a culture of continuous learning and development

  • Must be a self-starter, effectively working alone or as a member of a team

  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively with and persuade employees

  • Must have high attention to detail

  • Experience with regulated quality management systems (ISO 9001 or other)

  • Prior forklift experience a plus
