The 3D Systems site in Littleton, Colorado needs a skilled Production Planning Manager to augment the existing team under the direction of the Director of Manufacturing. The successful candidate should be experienced with forecasting, communicating delivery expectations externally, level-loading throughput, and delivering key metrics to the business. Our pace internally is matched by the pace at which our customers expect their new and innovative products to be delivered.
The role manages and plans the schedule of a fleet of additive manufacturing machines while leading a staff of planners and production coordinators. They work with all functions including engineering, manufacturing (including external suppliers), quality, supply chain, accounting, and sales in coordinating all aspects of the product's creation and delivery. This includes managing workflow of all process steps and communicating with the proper channel to keep each PO line item on track for delivery. Their greatest skill is communicating effectively and efficiently with all departments. Time management and urgency are a critical for success in this position.
As part of the Healthcare unit of 3D Systems, the Littleton facility acts as a service bureau to enable customers without the expertise, capital, or desire to additively manufacture their products. We are experts in digital workflows, patient-specific devices, and five different kinds of 3D printing. The Manufacturing department serves the Virtual Surgical Planning team, the Advanced Innovation team, and the Contract Manufacturing product lines with plastic and metal additive manufacturing.
Lead customer account management:
Communicate accurate delivery targets to customers, using reliable data to ensure on time delivery.
Facilitate customer project meetings, coordinating information gathering and managing internal efforts to implement changes as required. Select talent and groom incumbents to excel at customer service and to act as internal customer advocates.
Participate in Sales and Operations Planning:
Predict quarterly revenue weekly and compare to budget and forecast. Report to Business Development, Finance, and Senior Leadership. Ensure orders stay on track for quarterly revenue goals and work with production supervisors and external suppliers to schedule orders, resolve inventory issues, monitor material supply, and address quality concerns.
Address capacity challenges with creativity and in collaboration with supervisors to improve throughput and efficiency.
Think outside the box to create innovative scheduling plans that ensure consistent throughput in a high product mix environment.
Assist with machine and labor capacity models and forecasts as required. Collaborate with engineering and quality to monitor the impact of scrap/rework.
Anticipate changes in material supply mix and productivity demand based upon business plans. Advise procurement, purchasing, and other stakeholders with adequate lead time to respond.
Improve Business Processes:
Actively improve processes in order receipt, outside processing, planning, adjusting, forecasting, and communicating. Create work instructions and release official process documentation into the Quality Management System after thorough cross functional review.
Work with production teams to support a visual display environment that provides visibility to key metrics and highlights daily operational performance to the planned schedule.
Coordinate Production with other 3DS Facilities:
Develop relationships with production staff in 3DS' Leuven, Belgium facility and work with counterparts to meet planning, production, and communication needs for multinational shared customers. Resolve issues, share information, and implement mutual best practices for shared planning processes. Ensure adequate supply of inventory to support the internal transfer of raw and finished goods.
Develop staffing plan:
Considering needs in plastics and metals, Personalized Healthcare Solutions and Advanced Manufacturing, weekends and weekdays, current output and planned increase of output, plan for production support of all customers. Implement contingencies, communication channels, ways of work, and, ultimately, planning and coordination staff to support this plan. Develop metrics and justification for support of growing product lines and historically understaffed product lines.
Deliver On time:
Track On Time Delivery to help understand the efficiency of the process flow and estimation of lead time. Communicate OTD to Quality quarterly, Senior Leadership Monthly, and as needed with Business Development Managers.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with market data)
In addition to a salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based upon company performance.

Minimum 3-5 years in manufacturing and planning
At least 1 year of supervisory experience required
Bachelor's Degree required
Previous customer service experience is helpful.
Understanding of 5S, Lean, Six Sigma is a plus.
Must have strong skills in Excel data manipulation and MRP/ERP experience
Preference will be given to candidates with a background in the medical device industry and knowledge of ISO13485.
