Recreation & Enrichment Supervisor

Summary:
Supervises, implements and coordinates Recreation & Enrichment programs, to include community
events, volunteer programs, and outreach activities, and interface with all MHM staff as well as
partnering agencies and organizations to meet the Mission, Key Objectives, and Core Values of the
organization.

Essential Duties:
Programmatic Management:
• Work to incorporate aspects of whole person well-being into these programs while focusing
the image/goals, redevelopment and shaping based on best practices.
• Designs and implements evidence-based practices for participants of all ages, and supervise
team members to direct clients to appropriate services when needed
• Oversees the implementation of curriculum-based programs & models as part of
programming/outreach activities for participants of all ages.
• Develops programs with community member/client input according to interest and gaps.
• Recruits, trains and supervises Recreation & Enrichment team, volunteers', temporary
staff, and interns.
• Provides guidance and support for planning and implementation of special events, outreach
activities, field trips, sports, recreational, and educational activities.
• Provides guidance, support, and technical assistance to Recreation & Enrichment team to
ensure program quality and cohesion is being maintained in all areas of programming.
• Serve as on-duty staff member at selected events.
• Work a varied schedule to include some evenings and weekends depending on season and
activities
• Promotes and supports volunteer groups, programs, and activities.
• Submit requests for programming purchases, payment of volunteer stipends, team mileage
travel reimbursement
• Monitors program materials and supplies and arranges for equipment maintenance.
• Plans, coordinates, supervises and implements special events, outreach activities, field
trips, recreational and educational activities.

Organizational Leadership:
• Be an ambassador for MHM and work diligently with manager to promote constructive
partnerships in the community.
• Participates in evaluating program effectiveness and submits reports regarding program
accomplishments, metrics, and areas of development.
• Responds to complaints in an effective and timely manner.
• Prepare various routine and special reports as necessary, maintaining an awareness of
constant communication to Recreation & Enrichment Manager.
• Makes recommendations to the manager of the extension, modification, and/or initiation of
services.
• Supports organizational, team member and team professional development opportunities
Ensures compliance with all organizational policies, guidelines, and practices.
• Prepare and oversee appropriate support and marketing materials as needed.
• Available after regular business hours to respond to program situations and emergencies,
as well as, to staff high risk cases/situations and provide direction.
• Review and approve timecard entries for all non-exempt Recreation & Enrichment team
members
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Language Skills:
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to read, analyze medical documents. Fluent in
English; Spanish bilingual preferred.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Kinesiology, Education, Social Work or related field and one year of
experience working in the community center, recreational environment, or similar setting required
OR an associate's degree in listed fields with 3 years' experience working in the community center,
recreational environment, or similar setting required OR minimum of five (5) years' experience in
the community center, recreational environment, or similar setting required. Two years of
leadership/supervisory experience preferred.Recreation & Enrichment Program Supervisor

Reasoning Ability:
Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to
interpret variety of instructions in written, oral, mathematical, diagram or schedule form. Must be
able to deal with several abstract and concrete variables, which are broadly stated.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
As job assignment requires, obtains licenses/cortication's related to specific program activities,
such as First aid and CPR Certification, Child Protection Training, Motivational Interviewing
Training and Cultural Sensitivity Training, Trauma Informed Care

Mathematical Skills:
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals. Should be able to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw
and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability:
Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to
interpret variety of instructions in written, oral, mathematical, diagram or schedule form. Must be
able to deal with several abstract and concrete variables, which are broadly stated.

Computer Skills:
Intermediate working knowledge of the Internet, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
applications. Experience working with electronic health records and client data management
systems preferred. Ability to create and run reports.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member

While performing the duties of this job and direct service, the team member will be exposed to
office, residential, commercial and off-site locations, which house incarcerated individuals. The
position frequently requires sitting, standing, and walking, as well as, bending, stooping, reaching,
kneeling, crouching, pulling and pushing. Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 40 pounds.

Other:
Must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle; maintain valid driver's license and auto liability
insurance.
