Medtronic - Structural Heart in Mounds View is looking for a Technician III to work in a laboratory environment, learn new skills, and support multiple engineers. The individual will join a fast-paced engineering team in a growing division of the world's leading medical device manufacturer and contribute to the development of transcatheter heart valves.

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and use specialized equipment to perform testing with consistently high quality.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Prepare test samples and perform various mechanical tests as directed by engineers, to support the product development process.
  • Follow and provide feedback on internal procedures needed to evaluate heart valves.
  • Use laboratory equipment, such as optical microscopes, calipers, hand tools, and specialized test equipment.
  • Influence the development of new products, equipment design, and test methods by providing data and feedback.
  • Collect samples, file required paperwork, and ensure the collection and archiving of research and development documentation.
  • Complete required training to demonstrate compliance with applicable policies.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures within the work area.
  • Maintain the lab to comply with safety requirements and organizational principles.
  • Grow into a role of providing work direction and training to other employees.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Minimum of 4 years of experience of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice to Have

  • Associate of Science Degree in an engineering discipline
  • Strong organization skills with ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; effective interpersonal and influence skills within the team and to management
  • Work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision of engineers
  • Experience with medical products or in a regulated industry
