Supervision and Regulation (S&R) plays a critical role in The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago's core mission, supervising regulating state-chartered banks that are members of the Federal Reserve System, bank holding companies, financial holding companies and savings and loan holding companies. Our duty is to foster the stability, integrity, and efficiency of the nation's monetary, financial and payment systems to promote optimal economic performance.

The CRSB Examiner Consumer Compliance Reviewer reviews Consumer Compliance and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) reports and workpapers and discusses findings and conclusions with Compliance Division Management and examination staff. The individual collaborates with Division stakeholders to develop, implement, and analyze compliance risk identification metrics. The individual may serve as an instructor and may provide input on training, goal development and guidance to staff. The level of work required is considered intermediate to advanced, and staff must be able to work under general supervision. This job does not have any direct report and report to the Supervision Manager.

Your Responsibilities


  • Review and determine the adequacy and consistency of written reports and supporting workpapers

  • Develop formal feedback and recommend corrective action for identified issues

  • Interpret information and review data to develop hypotheses to facilitate the understanding of events as well as makes projections to forecast trends

  • Provide focused and value-added reports and other correspondence to Division Management and staff

  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with supervisory personnel at the Board and Reserve Banks to ensure consistent and thorough communication of examination and supervisory issues to banks

  • Participate in departmental and system-wide initiatives, including, but not limited to, working with staff from other Reserve Banks, the Board of Governors, and other regulatory agencies. Completes other special projects as assigned

  • Plan, direct and coordinate report review, and special projects that most effectively use available resources

  • Gather and organize information, derives sound analysis, conducts thorough and accurate work, support findings and conclusions, make recommendations and decisions, and follow-up, as appropriate

  • Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations, including aggregate report review findings to management and staff

  • Periodically assist or serve as Examiner in Charge (EIC) for compliance and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) examinations

  • Lead special projects within the Unit and participates on special projects within the Department

  • Assist in organization of presentations and roundtables on banking issues.

  • Work collaboratively with supervisory team members to ensure applicability and usability of analytical products.

Your Background


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • Four plus years of direct related work experience

  • Experience in the consumer compliance discipline, including training and reviewing work of others preferred

  • Examiner Commission preferred

  • Demonstrate independent thinking and decision-making abilities

  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication abilities

  • Possess and apply both specific and broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of the field of specialization to the completion of assignments

This position is considered Hybrid. Your presence will be required at one of the 7th District offices- Chicago, Detroit, or Des Moines
