Assistant Dean, College of Business and Economics - (220000GU) Job Summary Towson University (TU) is one of the nation's top 100 public universities. Towson University College of Business and Economics (CBE) is accepting applications for an Assistant Dean to provide oversight and management of CBE's budgeting, scheduling and enrollment, facilities management, data reporting for Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation, internal and external reporting for the CBE, and other duties as assigned. In addition, this position will develop and implement processes that will enhance the academic operations of the CBE. The Assistant Dean interfaces with department chairs, faculty, students, university administrative offices, and other constituents of the CBE on areas of scheduling, faculty assignments, enrollment initiatives, special functions/initiatives, and AACSB accreditation. The Assistant Dean is a twelve-month staff position.

Responsibilities and Duties


  • Develop a comprehensive budget for the college on an annual basis relative to the strategic plan. Prepare and review budget reports monthly, complete accounts payable and all financial forms for the College. Develop enrollment projections and monitor program enrollment. Coordinate schedule of classes each semester and serve as liaison between CBE departments and the Registrar's Office Remain current on all relevant procedures and accreditation standards and ensure compliance with AACSB standards. Prepare data generated reports and presentations. Supervise maintenance of classroom facilities Plan and implement building renovation and special facility projects as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills


  • M.B.A., master's degree in accounting, or other closely related business field, and three years of related work experience required. The selected candidate must have demonstrated ability to work with budgets and other financial information; strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and external contacts; ability to work as an effective team member; ability to resolve problems and facilitate decision making processes using sound judgment; cooperative and service orientated attitude; must be able to work under pressure and maintain a professional demeanor; demonstrated leadership ability and effective oral and written communication skills, including extensive editing; strong computer skills, especially the ability to manipulate data using Excel for decision making and presentations; and the ability to gather and present information for different stakeholders. Prior experience and understanding of the organizational structure and working environment of an academic college within the university is desirable. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
