Allegheny College, a small selective national liberal arts college, invites applications for the position of Payroll Manager. The position is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Director of Human Resources.


The Payroll Manager is responsible for all in-house payroll preparation and processing, including and not limited to, managing employee and student payrolls, reconciling to the general ledger, documenting and updating procedures and preparing special reports. Allegheny College runs bi-weekly and monthly payrolls for staff and students and the successful candidate will also be responsible for verifying and reconciling quarterly tax reports and deposits, annual tax detailed reports and W-2 Forms. In addition, the Payroll Manager partners with others across campus to reconcile student work study and support audit processes.


Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and seven years of payroll management experience. Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws concerning payroll and payroll administration is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor's degree, experience with Colleague HR (an Ellucian product) and advanced knowledge of the Google suite of applications.
