What You Will Be Doing - Review construction documents and understand scope of work to bid.
- Review and analyze blueprints, specs, proposals, and other documentation.
- Prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, and services.
- In early budgeting phase and final/hard bid scenarios, coordinate subcontractor bids, including preparing bid invitations, reviewing incoming bids for scope and pricing, scheduling site visits with subcontractors to review the scope of projects, acquiring best pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, and developing bid presentations.
- Calculate accurate labor, equipment, and material costs for commercial construction jobs.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs of construction documents.
- Input take-offs into a computer spreadsheet.
- Obtain bids from subcontractors.
- Prepare cost analysis by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs
- incurred during installation.
- Make estimates when predetermined standards are unavailable.
- Report any inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.
- Studies specifications to assist the operations team in planning procedures for construction on basis of
- starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
- Works with the operations team throughout the preconstruction process in reviewing plans and specifications for constructability issues and determining general requirements on the project.
- Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, and other requirements.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Attend departmental meetings.
What You Need for this Position - Four-year degree in an accredited construction related curriculum and minimum 2 years experience
- in estimating, design related activities or project management.
- 4+ years of related project experience. HS Diploma or GED (Bachelor's degree, preferred).
- Previous experience in cost estimation.
- Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret plans and specifications relative to the scope of work and schedule specified for each project within bid time frame.
- Experience with design-build, construction management, and hard bid projects.
- Able to monitor project costs, perform cost analysis, and prepare project reports.
- Able to read and interpret architectural/structural drawings.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet applications.
- Excellent collaboration, analytical, communication, and time management skills
