TU is accepting applications for a Substitute Teacher for a temporary assignment in an early childhood classroom in our University Child Care Center. Serve as Lead Teacher in assigned classroom in absence of Lead Teacher for extended leave. Assume all duties of that teacher in their absence. Work collaboratively with teaching team and administration to maintain the quality of care for students and quality of best practices modeled through Lab School setting with the greater Towson University.

Responsibilities and Duties

In the absence of a lead teacher, either for vacation or long-term leave, serve as lead teacher in classroom. Includes lesson planning and implementation, student observation and assessment, general classroom management and supervision of student staff. Interact with parents as appropriate. Maintain classroom management to allow leads to perform lesson planning, conduct conferences with parents, etc. Stay current with MSDE licensing requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field (family studies, psychology, etc.). One year of experience in an early childhood classroom. 90+9 Clock Hour certification in early childhood curriculum, development, and communication OR MSDE teacher certificate or equivalent. Must have a thorough knowledge and be able to demonstrate an understanding of DAP and child development. Must be able to utilize all computer software and technologies, smartBoard, camera, Ipad.

Salary and Benefits

$19.00 per hour. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage.
