Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply paints and various coatings to all types of surfaces.
  • Detach and reattach wall mounted pictures, equipment and devices.
  • Improves and maintains the overall interior appearance by painting and redecorating walls, woodwork and fixtures.
  • Knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications.
  • Prepares surfaces for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices, applies paint with a spray gun or brush.
  • May mix colors, oils, white lead and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency.
  • Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of the work areas including the workshop.
  • Repairs drywall.
  • Assists others as part of the maintenance team to perform other duties assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess a broad knowledge of facility operations and maintenance.
  • Experience with a Facility Computerized Maintenance Management System software (CMMS) highly desired.
  • OSHA-10, OSHA 30, or Haz Work desired.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious work relationship with staff, faculty, students, and University officials and general public.
  • Adhere to safety regulations provided by University and city policies and governmental regulatory entities, such as, OSHA.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.
