ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Uses best practices and safety procedures to install and repair floor flush systems including vinyl floor tile, vinyl cove base molding and suspended ceiling system.

Repairs damage to tiles, carpeting, ceiling, walls, floors, etc. Inspect and replace ceiling tiles.

Plans and completes construction of cabinets, shelves, and partitions from initial layout to assembly using oral instructions, plans, specifications, blueprints, and work orders.

Lays out and assembles pre-fabricated staging systems used for special events.

Repairs and replaces various building objects, including doors and window hardware. Hang drywall.

Installs items, such as window shades, venetian blinds, curtain rods, wall fans, and door locks for tenants and client.

Interfaces with building occupants, provides initial review/evaluation, may provide access to site for the safety office and trade shops.

Cleans and maintains tools and equipment.

Drives the company vehicle throughout the campus and other off-site locations as directed.

Enters service tickets and updates work orders into Maintenance Connect.

Any other duties needed to do the right thing, help fulfill our mission, support our client, while consistent with policy and the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

EXPERIENCE and REQUIREMENTS


  • 3 - 5 years of similar commercial work experience in general maintenance, repairs, or carpentry.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Basic computer skills. Ability to use computer to enter data and work orders.
  • Ability to routinely use equipment such as power tools, table saw, drills, MITRE saw, skill saw, nail gun, drill press, levels, pallet jacks, outdoor equipment, etc.

EDUCATION

  • Ability to read and write English.
  • High School Graduate or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.).

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

On rare occasions, may be asked to travel to other Thompson Facilities Services locations to assist with special projects or events.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, lift, pull, push, climb, twist, reach, and walk for a minimum of three hours on the campus terrain. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. using safe lifting techniques.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position operates on a university campus with exposure to hazardous materials, wide-ranging outdoor weather conditions, tight spaces, tunnels, rooftops, etc. Work is performed in campus buildings where lighting and ventilation may be inadequate.
