Summary of Duties:
In cooperation with the Farm Manager the person in this position will perform duties involved in all aspects of fruit, vegetable, and landscape plant production, care and maintenance. [including ground preparation, planting, irrigating, spraying, thinning, weeding, mowing, harvesting, pruning, removing diseased wood/plants, rodent baiting or trapping, observing and reporting disease or pest problems, etc.] Care, maintenance and repair of farm equipment and facilities including large and small farm equipment [tractors, mowers, tillage equipment, sprayers, etc and small engine equipment such as weed eaters, chain saws, etc.], buildings [including organizational and janitorial duties], roads, fences, irrigation systems, bird perches, etc. Assist Farm Manager with the following: educating people of all ages about agricultural practices; record keeping; supervising temporary, part-time laborers; field data collection and summarization; applying research plot treatments; etc. Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and to lift 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day. Ability to work in a positive manner with supervisor, general public, faculty, students, and other staff. Pesticide Applicator/Public Operator license required.
