Systems Analyst, Technology at FINRA in Rockville, Maryland

Job Description:

The Product Support Systems Analyst is responsible for providing support to assigned product(s), ensuring that the product meets the needs of the business community it serves, by analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues with minimal supervision. The Product Support Analyst will work closely with the customer and other internal/external stakeholders including the development team to ensure the daily business operations of the system meet the customer’s needs.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Assists with day-to-day system monitoring and operations.

  • Works with internal/external teams and users to identify, classify, and resolve product issues.

  • Facilitates the flow of information between stakeholders/customers and the development team to ensure a common understanding of issues, needs and deliverables.

  • Participates in the 24/7 on-call support rotation.

  • Uses SQL to analyze data sources and check for anomalies. 

  • Represents team in product group-level discussions with stakeholders/customers.

  • Provides the necessary information to enable the customer to make informed decisions. 

  • Attends business reviews, providing critical input and expert insights to inform maintenance and development activities.

  • Works closely with team members identify best practices opportunities to improve the product support processes.

  • Develops deep understanding of the business and product areas within the product group, as well as the relevant data that can be used to inform key decisions.

  • Support user acceptance testing activities.

  • Support data analysis/collection in support of customer reports.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of product support documentation. 

  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting or related discipline with at least five (5) years of related experience, or equivalent training and/or work experience.

  • Proficient at technical business writing, including functional requirement specifications, workflows, use-cases and other documentation methodologies.

  • Demonstrated experience documenting solutions for complex business and data intensive systems.

  • Knowledge of industry leading requirements documentation and traceability frameworks and tools.

  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships that improved the quality of work products.

  • Should be well organized, thorough, and able to handle competing priorities.

  • Ability to maintain focus and develop proficiency in new skills rapidly.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

  • Experience in the financial industry, particularly the regulatory domain, preferred.

  • Knowledge of at least one programming language preferred.

Work Conditions:


  • Work is normally performed in an office environment.

  • Occasional travel and extended hours may be required.
