Job Description:

One (1) full time, 40 hours/week, Clinician/Clinician Trainee opportunity at our Merced Program. This clinician position is in partnership with Central California Alliance for Health (CCAH) and Merced County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services. This position will include providing social skills and bullying prevention groups in Merced County to youth in K-12th grade, it will include parent training and teacher consultation. Upon completion of the CCAH credentialing process, this position will transfer to provide outpatient counseling to individuals with Medi-Cal Alliance benefits.
Clinicians work with individuals, groups and communities to improve mental health. They diagnose and treat emotional disorders, encourage individuals to talk about their feelings and help individuals develop new strategies to improve their lives and relationships.
Essential Job Functions:

Physical capability to lift over 20 pounds, and engage in physical activity including sitting, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, reaching, etc.
Be conversant in the philosophy, techniques and language of an educational school environment.
Ability to work harmoniously with others, including supervisors.
Ability to protect and honor individual integrity through confidentiality.
Ability to instruct small groups of children Kindergarten to 12th grade in Second Step/Why Try curriculum.
Effectively use de-escalation skills and techniques for crisis prevention.

Responsibilities:

Instruct Second Step/Why Try curriculum to students through a systematic selection process that are experiencing mild to moderate school adjustment difficulties.

Working with direct, close supervision, instruct children (from a variety of age groups, socio-economic and racial backgrounds, and geographic settings) on core social and emotional skills to prevent violence and aggressive behavior, improve academic performance and enhance life skills.
Participate in weekly training and be observed weekly to ensure continuity and quality of services.
Establish rapport and warm, meaningful relationships with referred students.
Talk with students and establish an atmosphere to encourage their expression of feelings and ideas.
Help build confidence in students through small group interactions.
Provide feedback to program team, including principal, teachers and other school personnel.
Attend all staff meetings/trainings.
Participate with school personnel and/or consultants in selection, progress, exit, and other conferences concerning, both in the school and in community agencies.
Assist in student selection and evaluation
Assist with program record keeping.
Report any suspected child abuse immediately to direct supervisor or if not available, utilize the chain of command.
Report any suspected dependent adult/elder abuse immediately to direct supervisor or if not available, utilize the chain of command.
Report any imminent danger to self or danger to others to direct supervisor or if not available, utilize the chain of command.
Knowledge of current issues/trends in the fields of counseling, psychology and social work.
A thorough knowledge of emotional/behavioral disorders and the familial and community implications.
Provide direct clinical services to clientele.
Provide admission, assessment and treatment planning for children and families.
Provide group, individual, family, and collateral clinical services for clientele.
Provide school consultation when appropriate.
Keep comprehensive clinical records which meet standards for contract and accreditation.
Maintain frequent and consistent contact with representatives of the referring agency or other community agencies working with client to coordinate treatment.
Collect outcome data and consumer satisfaction data as required by the agency and contractor.
Maintain client confidentiality and release client records or information only when mandated or authorized to do so.
Must implement program goals and objectives to meet and maintain contractual requirements and productivity.
Any BBS registrations must remain current and active.

Administrative:

Attend weekly staff meetings and all trainings as necessary.
Attend appropriate outside workshops / training to enhance agency expertise.
Participate in in-service training to agency staff and community.
Arrive to work on time.
Complete and approve time card on time.
Participate in monthly peer review.
Complete progress notes within three business days and all other paperwork according to specified time frames.
Meet monthly productivity expectations.

Other
