Position Summary

Join our team of forwarding thinking leaders as a Principal Software Engineer and own software projects to completion. You will determine through your experience and research the most effective designs for F5 offerings.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Recommend and maintain technical design methodologies, processes, and technologies.


  • Identify and research new and emerging approaches and technologies, and open source projects.


  • Research and define benchmarks for security, scale, performance, code and product quality.


  • Ensure software and product architectures are developed in line with the vision and future direction of F5’s products by working with product, architecture, and development teams.


  • Partners with management on driving product timelines; Participates on design projects.


  • Solving complex bug scenarios, actively assisting DEV team to analyze and resolve various product issues.


  • Participate actively in developing plans, incorporating feedback along with reviewing test plans submitted by other team members


  • Collaborate with team members and technical leads


  • Passionate about our solutions, in order to Inspire and guide team members.


  • Be an Advocate for Quality.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:


  • Strong ability with L3/L4 networking especially as it pertains to cloud networking environments.


  • Understand the value of resilient system design.


  • Solid coding experience (Golang, Python, Bash, Perl)


  • Strong background working in Agile environments and with Agile methodologies.


  • Understanding of the differences between architecting network infrastructure and applications for the legacy enterprise datacenter versus the modern hybrid cloud/public cloud.


  • Strong networking experience with application and Network protocols, especially HTTP/HTTPS , TCP ,UDP


  • Attention to details


  • Able to communicate ideas, make and influence decisions and inspire others


  • Candidate must be passionate enjoy solving complex problems. This is a fast paced, innovative environment and requires candidate to grasp new technologies quickly. Often knowledge is self-taught as formal training in emerging technologies may not exist.


  • Highly strategic and analytical thinking.


  • Ability to understand and educate others on the pros and cons of various technical design options.


  • Uses design patterns to improve efficiency and scale development efforts.


  • Natural inclination to explore, prototype, and self-teach.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 9 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 6 years; or equivalent experience.
