Your Opportunity

Glumac is seeking a Mechanical Designer for our Portland office. A hybrid work environment is available to staff that can demonstrate good communication, quality, and accountability across their work products and efforts. The office is always available for those that desire an in-office environment full-time.

Your Impact

This role will entail:


  • Plan and design sustainable mechanical systems for all building types including but not limited to: educational facilities, high-rise apartments, laboratories, hospitals, commercial offices, and other commercial and institutional projects.
  • Work closely with Senior Engineers to prepare and present coordinated design options to Owners, Architects, and Clients.
  • Use Revit software to develop 3D models of mechanical systems within buildings.
  • Use AutoCAD and Revit software to develop construction documents for submission to code officials and contractors.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, contractors, architects, code officials, and clients to deliver world-class sustainable building designs.
  • Prepare design calculations to support proper building design including: heating and cooling load calculations, ventilation calculations, and distribution loss calculations.
  • Work alongside a project team to meet deadlines and deliverables from early concept stages through construction.
  • Review drawings and research code issues to comply with city, state, and county regulations.

Minimum:


  • 3+ years of experience as a Mechanical Designer working with infrastructure and/or building systems.
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in AEC - building design engineering.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, self-starter.

Desired:


  • Experience with REVIT and AutoCAD design software is a plus.
  • Experience with IES load calculation software is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Strong planning and organization skills required.
  • Passionate about innovative systems and designs. Ability to demonstrate passion to internal colleagues and clients.
  • Effective communicator, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design is a plus.
  • Certified Engineer-in-Training (EIT) a plus.
  • LEED and WELL certifications a plus.
