System Administrator System Innovators - Jacksonville, FL
System Innovators, a division of N. Harris Computer, is seeking an experienced System Administrator to join our growing team of IT Professionals. You would be exposed to new and exciting solutions regularly by working with the latest cloud and on-premise technologies to improve clients' systems. System Innovators uses advanced monitoring and system management tools to help our staff work efficiently and effectively in a collaborative work environment.
The System Administrator will frequently interact with Windows Operating systems, technologies used for virtualization, and applications common in web service environments, such as web servers (Internet Information Services - IIS) and database systems (Microsoft SQL Server). The System Administrator is responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of the hosted cloud solution environment for System Innovators. This includes the implementation and testing of backup and recovery procedures. They will also play a key role in creating tools and/or scripts to automate the installation and upgrade processes of our software in the hosted and on-premise environments of our clients using industry-standard tools for Microsoft like PowerShell. The System Administrator must be strong within Windows Server OS and have a good understanding of IPv4 networking to a cloud-hosted infrastructure (IP/Sec Tunnels, SSL Certificates, firewall access, etc.) and assist the helpdesk for any Level 2 or higher related issues either in the hosted environment or on-premise at a client site. The primary duty of the System Administrator is managing the day-to-day activities associated with the hosted cloud environments for our customers and the onboarding and installation and upgrades of our customers to this hosted environment as well as on-premise installation assistance within our Client Services team. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in PowerShell or another scripting tool to automate the day-to-day processes and installation of System Innovators software.
Responsibilities include:
Responsible for the monitoring, maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of hosted computer systems, network servers, and virtualization systems managed by System Innovators
Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
New Installation and Upgrades of System Innovators' Software on-prem and within the hosting infrastructure
Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of issues
Provide documentation and technical specifications to staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades to IT infrastructure
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, networks, server resources, storage systems, and key processes.
Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs including backups.
Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
Lead server and hosting helpdesk support efforts, making sure all server applications, servers, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance
Manage domain user accounts, permissions, network utilities, and security
Create Tools and/or scripts for the installation and upgrade processes on the System Environments (Powershell or others)
Maintain a Disaster Recovery Plan and ensure recovery is tested quarterly
Understanding of Network Technologies (VPN or IP/Sec Tunnels, SSL Certificate Installation and Configuration)
Optimizing and evaluating the system regularly
Work with System Innovators and third-party vendors for software bugs, upgrades, and break-fixes
Strong familiarity with Windows Server OS (2014-2022) is required, including command-line proficiency, installing OS and software, configuring and managing services, reading and understanding various system log files for maintenance or troubleshooting purposes
Ability to demonstrate self-sufficiency in installing, using, configuring, and troubleshooting functionality of common Windows software packages
Familiarity with a scripting or programming language commonly used on Windows
Good understanding of IPv4 networking, including addressing and subnetting, how network services communicate on network ports, OS, and hardware/software firewalls
Ensure network security and connectivity of the System Innovators hosted cloud environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and comfortable collaborating with various team members and departments
Qualifications:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
3-5 years of system administration, network administration, or database administration experience
Excellent communication skills and customer services skills
Experience with Windows Server administration and support with a focus on web services (Internet Information Services - IIS)
Experience with domain administration and support, VMware, Antivirus software, Backup software, remote management tools, and server/desktop operating systems.
System administration and IT certifications in Microsoft OS systems or other network-related fields are a plus
Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
Experience with scripting and automation tools
A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
