The Commodity Planner II is assigned commodities, services and other spend categories which include items of high technical content and which may be sophisticated in nature. Integrates cross-functionally to assure continuity of supply of required production materials and services in supports of 95% customer On-Time-Delivery; also focuses heavily on identification and execution of purchased cost savings for assigned commodities and services.
Responsibilities
Review purchase requirements with internal customer(s) to develop business need(s): purchase order entry, component and/or service expedites, issue resolution and follow up
Use SAP ERP system and reports to generate purchase orders and other data
Supplier and part number ERP/MRP system maintenance and management
Participate and/or lead development of replenishment strategies to ensure uninterrupted supply to meet customer requirements
Assist with analyzing material requirements to ensure alignment of Kanban levels and business goals such as customer service, availability and inventory turns
Obtain and review supplier quotations and make recommendations
Assist with negotiating contracts with suppliers along with drafting contract terms and conditions to meet business needs
Coordinate with Accounts Payable to ensure timely payment of invoices and/or receipt of credits
Resolve discrepancies with, but not limited to, invoices and material receipts
Direct supplier relationships and performance management to include regular supplier performance reviews and development of improvement plans
Can think outside of the box to help come up with solutions to material shortages
Both lead and support resolution of non-conforming component issues with suppliers
Establish and support total cost reduction programs for both direct and indirect materials
Review with suppliers engineering notifications as well as detailed engineering prints/drawings covering areas of responsibility
Proactively review trends in the global supply chain to help understand reactions that need to take place in the procurement of materials
Utilize RBS (Rexnord Business System) tools to continuously improve and optimize the supply chain as a whole
Host meetings as appropriate with vendors, maintaining open communication regarding lead times, quality standards, service levels and product availability
Manages purchase orders by completing order acknowledgements, processing quantity, price and lead time changes, and managing item attributes
Responsible for planning and scheduling production for assigned products
Promotes good vendor relations
Process, schedule, and coordinate assigned requests for the materials department
Maintain planning parameters in SAP, such as work order dates and exceptions

Experience and Skill Required
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Bachelor's degree in related field required
2-3 years of experience in a purchasing function with in a manufacturing environment required
Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to communicate with all levels of a corporation
Strong understanding of the various lean principles and continuous improvement
Strong negotiation skills
A strategic focus on what is important to the Company and his/her role in accomplishing this task
Strong analytical skills
SAP experience required
High degree of creativity, flexibility, and resourcefulness in the pursuit of cost improvements
Experience sourcing commodities a plus
Product knowledge preferred, castings, metal stampings, basic metal machining, metal processing, etc.
Working knowledge of engineering prints/drawings and specifications; basic ability to read a blueprint product prints/drawings
Experience working both as a team and also independently in a metric driven environment utilizing lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially as it pertains to Microsoft Excel
