Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare meats, vegetables, soups, sauces, and other food items.
• Prepare food items per standardized recipes or supervisor's guidelines
• Set-up and maintain work station
• Maintain walk-in coolers in a good sanitary condition.
• Assist in other areas of kitchen as directed by Sous Chef.
• Maintain a high degree of sanitation in work station.
• Direct and Train all Cooks I and II.
• Maintain a consistent and regular attendance record.
• Encourage mutual respect among associates by setting positive examples.
• Maintain a professional reputation in the company and community.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Knowledge of soups, sauces, quantity cooking, and food sanitation
• Three or more year's experience in food service, with some banquet experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations. Must be able to interpret and apply technical instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

REASONING ABILITY:

Must be able to apply commonsense understanding to a variety of situations, in order to collect data, establish and analyze facts, and determine appropriate response.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

• While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to:
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence.
• Ability to write basic correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to guests, and other associates in the company.
• The Associate must frequently lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

• While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to:
• A low-to-moderate noise level (offices).
• A moderate-to-loud noise level (public areas).
• Second-hand cigarette/cigar smoke.
• Moving mechanical and/or electrical components.
