Your Opportunity

Glumac is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer or Project Manager Wet Lab Specialist.

Your Impact

This role will entail:


  • Engineer of Record.
  • Assist in the expansion of Glumac's current life sciences and education market sectors.
  • Mechanical Engineering candidates must have a solid understanding of HVAC designs and commercial systems with applications in a variety of projects to include but not limited to: academic science wet laboratories, research facilities, biosafety level 2+ labs, science and tech academic facilities, commercial laboratories.
  • Specialist Engineer / Project Manager

    • Responsible for the Communication necessary with all parties to ensure a successful project.
    • Directly or indirectly involved in writing the Proposal and Fee.
    • Participate in design competitions and project approach.
    • Responsible for direct and regular interaction with the Client.
    • Responsible for developing and leading client decision making sessions for HVAC systems to guide the design forward in a timely manner.
    • Coordinate with energy team for life cycle cost or total cost of ownership analysis.
    • Have a solid understanding of the scope of the work to be performed.
    • Responsible for delivering an end project that satisfies the Client.
    • Work directly with the Principal in Charge throughout the project to ensure the success of the project.
    • Engineer Specific Duties:

      • Working with a mechanical engineering team for drawing and specification development including floor plans, schedules, details, single lines, and controls.
      • Assistance throughout construction administration and close out.
      • Coordination with quality control team.
    • Project Management Specific Duties:

      • Work directly with Projecting Accountants / Accounting to ensure that a profitable project is achieved.
      • Coordination and management of the Team and any others involved in the project.
      • Ensure the Team has the necessary tools and receives regular and timely information to produce a successful project.
      • Main point of contact for the Project.
      • In depth knowledge of the financial aspect of the project to ensure financial success of the project.
  • Proven leadership experience and managerial experience are a must.
  • Knowledge and experience must include using software such as AutoCAD, REVIT, and MS Office to perform complex calculations, proficiency in Building and Mechanical Codes and Standards, superior client-facing/client relationship/client management skills, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Leads assigned project teams as they perform their tasks and participate in budgeting, scheduling, and staff management.
  • Assist marketing and business development efforts of new and existing clientele.
  • Participate in activities and organizations related to our industry outside of daily business routine, developing peer relationships, technical growth, and business contacts.

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field is required.
  • 10-15+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer working with infrastructure and/or building systems in the AEC / MEP industry.
  • Significant commercial and academic wet lab experience required.
  • Current Professional Engineering PE license.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience maintaining successful client relationships.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills with ability to lead multiple-discipline project teams.
  • Ability to mentor and train young engineers, reviewing their work and giving appropriate feedback to ensure quality control.
  • Significant sustainable design experience strongly desired.
  • Well Certification and LEED AP BD+C are a plus.
  • Project Management experience is a plus.
