Job Description:

Summary:

The employee must have the competence to follow written procedures for precise shell and electrode plating. Extensive working knowledge of the brite dipping process and the capability to test for passivity is a necessity. Additional working knowledge of nickel, tin, and copper plating procedures will be necessary. The employee will be required to adjust plating bathes by adding chemicals under the direction of the Plating Supervisor. The employee will be a hazardous waste handler.

Other prerequisites will be the working knowledge of processing all products in the proper sequence to produce high-quality products in a prompt and efficient manner. Extensive use of pin gauges and thread gauges is required to ensure the product meets specifications prior to release from the plating department. The employee will know and follow the procedures for pre-plate and post-plating clean-up as well as proper racking and un-racking methods to avoid damage to the product. The employee will be required to perform other tasks and duties as may be assigned by the Plating Supervisor.

The employee must be flexible with job scheduling to meet the overall needs of the company and the plating department. A close working relationship must be maintained with the wirers/un-wirers, plater's assistant, and parts racker.

Good attendance is required for this position.

The employee must maintain a clean, uncluttered, and safe work environment by observing and practicing high standards of health and safety. This includes wearing appropriate attire, such as protective safety glasses, appropriate closed-toed shoes, and any other safety-required gear where applicable.

Skills:

Use of basic inspection equipment

Able to read gauges and instruments

Basic computer skills

Chemical handling safety

Good eye/hand coordination

Education:

High School or Equivalent

Competency:

Basic math, reading, writing

Repetitive lifting of 25-30 lbs.

Ability to stand for 8 hours a day

The employee will be exposed to chemicals, and proper handling protocol to be followed.
