Job Description:

SUMMARY:


Reporting directly to the Director, Finance in a multi-faceted, multi-location academic and administration setting, provides operational analysis and reporting, budgeting and forecasting support, and financial modeling support for American Career College. Supports the Corporate Director, Finance, and executive management by providing timely reporting and analysis operational key drivers and process improvement opportunities. Participates as an integral part of the Operations team.


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: 



  • Prepares financial reports on key operating metrics such as analysis of outcomes, revenue, expenses, and operating results.  Analyzes material or unusual actual cost variances from budget.  Interacts with campus management for necessary research.

  • Assists in the preparation of monthly variance analysis of operating results and coordinates the preparation of monthly/quarterly financial forecasts.

  • Prepares trend reports for operational metrics and makes recommendations for improving analysis and overall performance.

  • Develops complex financial models to predict the financial impact on the company of various strategic decisions.

  • Designs, develops, and implements cost/revenue models, databases and management reports using Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Business Intelligence, Microsoft One-Stop Reporting and education/student accounting systems for the various functions and departments.  Collaboratively works with campus, College Administration and Catalysis managers to gather and analyze relevant business data.

  • Supports the annual budget process.

  • Actively participates in special projects that impact Operations.

  • Monitors and analyzes monthly operating results against budget, forecast and prior year.

  • Utilizes judgment to recommend when policies and procedures need to be changed. Suggests, recommends, and implements changes.

  • Develops quantitative/qualitative methodologies, strategies and evaluates criteria where standard techniques are not applicable for successful problem resolution.

  • Advises management on the allocation of resources to best accomplish financial objectives and prepares reports for management.

  • Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the Company’s Code of Ethical Conduct, Compliance Agreement, Sexual Harassment Policy or any of its policies and procedures, applicable federal and states laws, and applicable professional standards.

  • Maintains regular and timely attendance, reports to work as scheduled and assures time worked and/or time-off is recorded properly.

  • Maintains established department policies, procedures and attends in-services and other required meetings.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all student, associate, and/or company information as required.

  • Exercises care, proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies and identifies unsafe conditions and makes appropriate adjustments.

  • Maintains order, cleanliness, and safety at work.


EDUCATION:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required. 

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Cost Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field preferred.


 


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:



  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.

  • Five-plus years of experience in a senior level financial analyst position with appropriate/equivalent industry and/or with increasing responsibilities for multi-faceted, multi-location direction and planning. 

  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in for-profit setting, internal accounting controls, investment, and treasury functions.

  • Knowledge of database and accounting computer application systems to supply the most accurate financial information.

  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems, specifically Great Plains and education/student accounting systems (CampusVue) and financial reporting software (FRx).

  • Thorough knowledge and experience with MS Office applications including Excel, Access (SQL) and PowerPoint.
