Job Description:


Basic Job Functions:






  • Monitor the management information systems for newly released orders, or changes in shipping releases pertaining to three areas. Print and distribute orders.

  • Greets and assists customers while maintaining safety and security protocols. Receives departmental calls and provides general information as to location, loading hours and pick up procedures.

  • Complete load confirmation and invoicing of material.

  • Alert sales and management of any back-ordered material.

  • Sign freight carrier drivers in and out of facility.

  • Generate shipping documents such as Bill of Ladings and packing slips.

  • Communicate with transportation vendors to arrange deliveries.

  • Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments, review digital pictures from the previous day shipments and assign the appropriate job number.

  • Properly file and retain all documentation to include shipping Bills of Lading, Purchase Orders, and supply request.

  • Take weekly physical inventory of production materials to determine purchasing and transfer needs to other plants.

  • Assist in the coordination and verification of monthly physical inventory in order to perform Cycle Counts.

  • Daily interface with Inventory Control Team, Customer Service, Marketing, Samples and Upper Management.

  • Report questionable conditions to department supervisor.

  • Read and understand customer orders to determine correct product is manufactured and loaded.

  • Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.





Minimum Qualifications:






  • Two years relevant distribution/logistics operations experience, including shipping, receiving, delivery, and inventory.

  • High school diploma or recognized equivalent required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with an advance knowledge in Word, Excel and Outlook.




Work Environment



The shipping administrator may be required to enter areas that are near moving mechanical parts, with occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals, and extreme cold or heat. The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate and may require the use of hearing protection. The employee will be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when accessing certain manufacturing areas, (hard hat, gloves, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, and earplugs.)
