The Senior Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance will drive improvements and standardize systems to ensure products manufactured for B&G Foods meet food safety, regulatory requirements, and B&G specifications. This individual is responsible for executing the food safety and quality strategy, department leadership, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional business results in the area of quality and food safety programs, raw materials, and packaging.

 More specifically this position will drive improvements and standardize food safety and quality programs for the organization.  The individual must possess strong technical knowledge of food safety, quality systems, and ingredients. The position requires well-developed leadership and influencing skills and a continuous improvement mindset and self-initiative.

Responsibilities:

• The primary responsibility of this position is to be the Food Safety and Quality systems leader that supports quality and food safety management systems and the supplier quality program.  This role will ensure the programs that support the food safety and quality of products, ingredients, and packaging manufactured or procured by B&G food are comprehensive and meet all current regulatory and customer requirements.


• This individual will also support the administration of food certification and claims programs to include Kosher, non-GMO, Gluten Free, and Vegan.


• Provide leadership and direction to a team of 5 employees.


• Develop and lead active supplier improvement strategies.


• Support customer engagement and requests for information on quality, food safety, and certifications.


• Influences and implements strategies to have a strong food safety culture among functional partners and at supplier locations.


• Oversees the supplier audit program and communicates supplier performance across food safety and quality KPIs to the business.


• Leads initiatives to continuously improve metrics, reduce complaints and improve quality performance with B&G suppliers


• Develops and leads the implementation of quality and food safety programs that includes creating and updating procedures, training, and ensuring B&G programs are the best in class.


• Leads or participates in process improvements for food safety and quality across the organization


• Partners with the rest of the Food Safety and Quality organization to cross-train and share best practices.

Experience, Skills, Education:

• Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred


• 10+ years relevant Food Safety and Quality Assurance experience required


• HACCP Certification/PCQI/Food Defense Qualified certifications required


• SQF Practitioner (or experience with another GFSI certification) require


• Strong knowledge of food safety/hazard analysis and preventive controls cleaning/sanitation and sanitary design; pest control; allergen controls require


• Experience in Microbiological and Analytical methods required


• Experience in supplier quality management preferred


• Experience leading a team, highly preferred


• Experience with Agricultural commodities, frozen, and canned foods a plus
