Electrical Technicians at Kimberly-Clark initiate design, develop, optimize, and problem solve electrical systems and processes in a manner that meets safety and performance expectations.  The Electrical Technician for this role will provide leadership to the design, development, optimization, and problem solving of high-speed electrical systems supporting the manufacture of personal care products. Candidates must have expertise across multiple technologies and will have a demonstrated ability to effectively provide specific project work direction to a broad range of team members.  In this role, you’ll report to the Global Capital Execution Manager within the Global Process Development Team and generally receives direction from the Engineering and Electrical Engineering Leads. 

Essential Accountabilities:


  • Responsible for the design, installation, repair and maintenance of Production electro-mechanical equipment (Hardware and Software).


  • Work on electrical assignments that may be complex in nature where guided judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.


  • Combine fundamental principles of electrical/electronic engineering with knowledge of mechanical engineering to design, support, maintain, test, troubleshoot and improve electrical and computer-controlled manufacturing equipment.


  • Perform diversified electrical and electronic instrumentation duties. Electrical duties would include design of motors and other electrical apparatus, switchgear, MCCs, Variable Frequency Motor drives, electrical distribution and power panels in voltages ranging from 120V AC to 480 Volts 3 phase.


  • Install and troubleshoot instrumentation systems related to electrical, instrumentation control, hydraulics, pneumatics and a variety of other systems; inspect installed systems to assure proper operation.


  • Maintain configuration control, preventive maintenance, and system integrity records required by internal and external directives. Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, equipment and components, both in the field and in the lab.


  • Examine various electrical systems and make recommendations for new equipment, repairs and modifications.


  • Complete all documentation correctly and provide necessary information with clear, concise, specific and thorough descriptions of any work completed following good Manufacturing Practices.


  • Provide work that adheres to all current SOPs and the Current Good Manufacturing Practices.


  • Communicate with outside vendors or contractors to perform capital project work.

You also possess:


  • An Associates Technical degree in electrical engineering or similar education and typically 0-5+ years experience in a combination of plant or staff roles. (Candidates with an Associate, Bachelor, or advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline and possessing applicable experience may also be considered.)


  • Experience in implementing capital projects in a Staff or Plant role (1-5+ years preferred).


  • Ability to travel 25% to support plant operations.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics and machine logic


  • Experience with PLCs, vision inspection systems, servo-drive systems as well as experience with data collection related to these systems.


  • Experience with AutoCAD.


  • Experience with high-speed manufacturing processes and vision/inspection systems


  • Experience with KC Personal Care converting asset equipment & processes (AFC & BCC)


  • Working knowledge of MES servers and PIPE


Critical Skills:


  • Strong knowledge and background in control of high-speed converting process and equipment, and demonstrated ability to translate knowledge into execution of process and capacity improvements.


  • The ability to provide innovative contributions in a team environment.


  • Effective Communication Skills with the ability to discuss technical issues in a business environment (mill technical and operations resources, suppliers, management, etc.).


  • The ability to adapt to rapidly changing business priorities and assignments.


  • Application/Results orientation with primary focus on problem definition and generation of alternative solutions.


  • Customer Focus when dealing with internal and external customers.


  • Experience and expertise with Kimberly-Clark engineering procedures and processes.
