The Neuro Critical Care Nursing Director will join a hospital that offers a wide array of inpatient and outpatient services to the city. Cardiovascular Services and Neurosciences, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, Wound Care and Oncology – all are available at this outstanding medical center in iconic San Francisco, California.


This Neurology-focused Intensive Care Department has had an astounding track record of delivering the highest quality, award winning care. The Critical Care Nursing Director will take direct clinical and managerial control of a 30-bed unit that’s been rated among the highest clinical performance in the country. The incoming Nurse Leader will find a team focused and professional department, exactly as you’d expect from such a highly visible unit in an academic hospital.


After many faithful years, the current Clinical Director is retiring and looking for an amazing leader to take their place. This would be an excellent opportunity for a seasoned Nurse Manager with experience leading Intensive Care Units to take an amazing step-up. Some preference will be given for candidates with NeuroSurgery ICU, NeuroVascular ICU, and General Neuro Intensive Care experience, but all Critical Care and ICU Leaders should apply.


Reporting to the Administrative Director of Acute Care Nursing Services, the Neuro Critical Care Clinical Director will take responsibility for a complex unit and outstanding team. Supporting you in this task are two CCRN Clinical Nurse Supervisor who serve as the department’s front-line leaders. Also supporting the Director are a team of ICU Charge Nurses who take more staff-level oversight, and who are amazing patient care champions.


The Neuro Critical Care Nursing Director will play a crucial role in the clinical and administrative operations of this unit, and of this hospital. This person will get to actively participate in the development and planning of the annual budget for this unit, setting and maintaining target staffing levels, and keeping a close eye on regulatory compliance for the Intensive Care Unit. This non-profit healthcare system has a great reputation for supporting the continuing education of its nurses, and this applies to roles like the Critical Care Director.
