With our unique integrated system of supports and scholarships starting as early as middle school, we have helped 7,000 students graduate from college! Join us and help change lives through education. Currently College Success Foundation is recruiting for Assistant VP, Research, Evaluation & Learning to join our team.


SUMMARY: College Success Foundation (CSF) is a national non-profit organization that seeks to improve educational equity for students from low-income families through an integrated system of support and scholarships. By pairing in-depth student advising with financial assistance, CSF has created a scalable and effective model of success.

College Success Foundation works to prepare students with the academic, financial, social, and emotional support they need to be successful in life, beginning in middle school and continuing through high school, college and beyond. CSF partners with several state and local organizations to serve the underserved, those who might not otherwise get to college without this support. Scholars of CSF include young people from low-income families, students of color, foster youth, and first-generation college students.

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Research, Evaluation & Learning (RE&L) will have responsibility to develop, design and lead cross-functional research activities that align with the vision and mission of College Success Foundation. The AVP of RE&L will manage all organizational and program-related research, reporting, and team management, to ensure data warehousing practices are aligned with relevant privacy and data protection laws. This position will strengthen CSF's ability to make evidence-based decisions and will advance the Foundation's standing as an outstanding philanthropic investment and national leader in the college readiness access and success fields.

THE WORK INVOLVES:

The AVP of Research, Evaluation and Learning (RE&L) will support the mission, vision, and strategic goals of CSF and will work closely with Vice Presidents to implement effective measures of organizational and program effectiveness. The AVP will lead a research team to design, develop and implement tools and analytics to improve efficiencies, compliance, and reporting of organizational impact. The AVP will advise the President and the Board of Directors on matters of organizational impact and assist in the development and execution of CSF's organizational effectiveness plan. The AVP will manage the department budget, plan, and implement staff professional development to advance a data-centric culture and ensure that CSF achieves its mission, vision, and goals.

The AVP of RE&L will collaborate with IT, Communications, Development, and Programs to develop, support, and implement systems, processes, and procedures for data collection, monitoring, and analysis across all areas of the organization. The AVP of RE&L will lead the development and evaluation strategy framework of data metrics, and reports that directly supports CSF scholarship models and other key program segments. The AVP of RE&L will provide strategic direction and training on data analysis platform such as Salesforce measurement and analytics to track and report organizational and departmental impact.

The AVP will lead, supervise, and evaluate the research team and collaborate across the organization to understand data needs, the generation of key outcomes and reliable data for reports, briefings, and summaries for a variety of audiences - from student-facing staff to executives and Board members. The AVP will consistently, efficiently, and accurately manage the generation of scorecards on organization and program-level impact. The AVP will supervise and manage content for presentations, conversations, and meetings and share organizational and program impact with CSF staff and external partners. The AVP will communicate research insights that advance continuous organizational improvement and effectively promote collaboration among CSF partners. The AVP will establish collaboration with others in K-12 and higher education who utilize data to influence student outcomes and lead in college access and success research.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Advanced degree in educational research, mixed-methods social sciences (quantitative and qualitative) public policy, equivalent lived experience in related field preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working in the applied research settings with focus on data management and reporting responsibilities, including process design and management, implementation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement preferred
  • Proactive approach to research evidence by sharing data and insights through publishing
  • Must be highly proficient at producing complex data analyses with clear and concise explanations for a wide range of audiences
  • Experience working in secondary and post-secondary intervention models appropriate for students who are historically underrepresented and underserved in public K-12, and postsecondary institutions
  • Five years of management experience required
