The Global Technology organization at Prudential is seeking a VP, Information Systems for the Group Insurance business, reporting to the Chief Information Officer- Enterprise Digital Technology & US Insurance and Retirement. In this highly visible role, you will join a team of diverse, agile-thinking and highly-skilled professionals. You will be responsible for delivering customer-driven solutions for the Group Insurance business. In support of the business strategy, you will provide valuable insights that will help drive and maximize successful business outcomes.  

The successful candidate will establish strong working relationships and partner closely with key stakeholders across the business, technology and strategic vendor partners.

This position will be a hybrid role in Newark,

Responsibilities:


  • Oversight of the Group Insurance technology teams to assure the successful delivery of large, complex, mission critical business and technology projects; ensure quality solutions are delivered on time and aligned to budgetary plans.


  • Lead, develop, and evolve Group Insurance’s technology; influences the business on the right technology strategy.


  • Provide career growth/development opportunities, while contributing to an innovative and inclusive culture. Continue to transformation the team through training and upskilling with contemporary technical skills.


  • Partner closely with Group Insurance leaders to develop and drive a digital agenda; ensure our technology is optimally supporting business objectives centered in growth, solutions, and customer obsession.


  • Establish and drive an agile product delivery approach to champion a flexible and iterative culture that empowers our businesses through optimal use of technology.


  • Direct and oversee the design, planning, implementation, and maintenance of products and platforms that support business operations and customer facing applications.


  • Execute vendor management with a focus on improving vendor engagement, relationships, and ultimately performance; Lead and manage a hybrid sourcing model comprised of strategic vendor partners and Prudential employees.


  • Advise business and technology senior management teams on emerging technologies, industry solutions, and digital trends.


  • Help determine capital investment priorities and identify risks for technology initiatives to maximize business outcomes.


  • Engage with technology and business partners to ensure transparency and collaboration between the organizations. 


  • Effectively partner with leaders in Global technology to represent Group Insurance.


  • Collaborate with peers in USIR to create cross business technology solutions.


Skills, Experience and Qualifications:


  • 10 + years of experience in Information Systems Management with demonstrated success as an Information Technology executive that can drive technology transformation.


  • Strong technical skills in the areas related to application architecture, software defined infrastructure, cloud enablement and technical transformation.


  • 10 years of experience leading and motivating large, diverse and hybrid technology teams.


  • Experience being directly responsible for managing the technologies and applications required across the broad range of business functions, especially those related to insurance companies.


  • Broad and deep experience in developing and implementing strategic and tactical systems plans with a successful track record of partnering with internal stakeholders; Proven record of delivering business transformational initiatives.


  • A leader who fosters an environment focused on teamwork, high-performance, accountability, innovation and growth; not afraid to ‘roll up the sleeves’ and seeks to go outside comfort zone to learn – pushes the team to do the same. Proven experience managing Agile teams.


  • Entrepreneurial spirit, persistence, and resilience; comfort with and ability to thrive on and drive change while navigating ambiguity.


  • Objective, diplomatic team player with excellent collaboration, networking, and influencing skills, as well as credibility and commitment to building trust and developing relationships. 


  • Executive level vendor management skills;  with proven results in delivering business value at a fair and reasonable cost.


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to aggregate, interpret and translate complex business challenges into business models, process, and technology solutions in alignment with the team’s goals. 


  • Ability to balance enterprise imperatives with business priorities, as well as strategic long-term view with day-to-day business priorities and operational excellence.


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
