The PNC Retail Architecture Strategy team is seeking an experienced enterprise architect that can draw upon their vast career experience in order to help objectively define future state architectural vision, directly building consensus at the c-suite, and help guide technology decisions through robust "NorthStar" styled visions.
This is a remote position and can sit anywhere within the PNC footprint, except for Colorado, Hawaii or Alaska. There is limited expectation for regular in person, in office activities.
About the Position
On any given day, you will be working directly or leading meetings with
executive leadership (C-level) or their delegates, Product teams, Business teams, and IT teams; find yourself deciphering & documenting current state topology in order to locate potential opportunities in the future; creating high-level guidance and architecture artifacts for solution architecture teams related to your vision; collaborating as a sounding board with others on the team; always leveraging your emotional intelligence as you are on the lookout for potential "drag" across the business.
As a Architecture Strategist, you will be required to represent deep expertise and knowledge on modern architecture patterns and to apply the concepts to re-architect & reimagine areas of the business, not just refactoring/containerizing current concepts. You will leverage your foundational understanding of hybrid software architecture, microservices, APIs, event streaming as you collaborate to create NorthStar reference architectures where you will champion the vision to the business. Your sound guidance merges all areas of the business into a unified vision, driving teams and decisions, towards the end state.
We are seeking a candidate who identifies as a "technologist," has great breadth and depth of experience across their career, has the capability to work with effectively with technical and business stakeholders, is comfortable working directly with executives as our sponsors, and has proven ability to evangelize and present across forums and audiences.
This advisory-styled position will require you to fluidly shift between Architect Advisor, Solution Architect, Software Architect, & influencer / pre-sales generating supporting artifacts, design and vision accordingly.
About the Role
Define strategy providing technical design, vision, architectural leadership including documenting and diagramming both logical and physical aspects, and incorporating related enterprise standards and design goals
Form relationships, collaborate, and influence other teams including, Business (LOBs), IT (LOBs), Enterprise Architecture, Security, Solutions Architects, Risk, Operations, etc.
Identify and understand emerging technology trends across retail & commercial banking and other industries. Identify and understand customer trends. Leverage your knowledge and perspective of these trends as part of the strategy linking them to initiatives in other areas of the businesses related to cost control / reduction, increase efficiencies, new capabilities, risk reduction, etc.
Identify and document architecture capability models spanning multiple LOBs and products. Identify the upstream and downstream intersection of the strategy through the enterprise.
Actively participate as an oversight member in architecture design governance reviews ensuring proposed solution architectures are aligned to principals and vision of strategy
Run and facilitate active collaboration sessions working with leaders from across the bank on meaningful strategic technology and architecture decisions.

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree. Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable. Industry relevant experience is typically 8+ years. Specific certifications are often required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
