Department Overview

The Research and Development Department is responsible for the development of technology platforms and products designed to support the future growth, competitiveness, and long-term sustainability of the company. As part of its platform development efforts, R&D conducts a wide range of research activities, namely in the areas of trait discovery and validation, crop genetic engineering, crop transformation, molecular detection, biochemical assays, plant growth, and molecular breeding, food science & innovation to name a few. These activities are aimed at developing new capabilities in crop research, the outcome of which is then leveraged to create new product development opportunities and shorten the time to market. The department leverages its platform capabilities and extensive knowhow in biology and crop science, along with the computational expertise housed within the Data Science & Platform Engineering, as well as the market insights of the Business Development and Commercial teams to design and create new and improved crop varieties, which offer tangible benefits to farmers and consumers, specifically in the areas of sustainability, health and nutrition.

Position Summary

We are actively seeking a Scientist I to join our rapidly growing Food Innovation team within the Research and Development Department. The scientist is a key player in our food analytical science function and will be responsible for a variety of food science analyses, including composition, flavor, and related assay / process development. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally in collaboration with all business departments and functions.

You Will:

(Essential Duties and Responsibilities)


  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in food analytical science

  • Expertise in analytical instrumentation, such as LC and GC

  • Independently design and execute analyses related to compositions of seeds and food ingredients

  • Familiar with ingredient characterization and product development

  • Independently prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and data interpretation

  • Contribute to developing a cross-functional and departmental food innovation strategy

You Have:

Education

  • MS or PhD in food science, food engineering, chemistry, biochemistry and related discipline; An advanced degree is preferred; Industry experience in direct area of expected involvement preferred
Qualifications/Skills

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-moving environment

  • Skills to manage multiple projects and initiatives while maintaining a strong sense of urgency

  • Capability of coordination and teamwork across different functions and departments

  • Strong written and verbal communication
