Job Description:

Nemours Children's Health is seeking a Desk Side Intern, Part-Time (Temporary), to join our team at Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, Florida.

The Desk Side Intern's role is to learn and begin to apply knowledge gained from supervised and mentored work relating to the support and maintenance of Nemours' computer systems and peripherals. This includes installing and maintaining hardware, software and peripheral equipment. This position will receive and respond to incidents including but not limited to telephone calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding problems. The Intern's primary role will be to process and record incoming computer related inventory, process computer related equipment earmarked for destruction and maintain inventory counts and par levels. This is a part-time, temporary position.

This is a great opportunity for a student studying Information Science to get a broad introduction to IT support and the Healthcare industry. You must have a flexible schedule. This is a minimum 1 year internship engagement with the opportunity to extend. 20 hours per week (with hours being flexible M-F).

Desk Side Support


  • Install, maintain and repair Desktop related equipment and software (PCs, workstations, peripherals, laptops, etc.) used in the enterprise)
  • Perform Desktop related equipment relocation as assigned.
  • Staff an Employee facing walk up window to assist employees with Nemours equipment related issues.
  • Inventory management by collecting and itemize workstations for disposal; update asset databases as necessary with hardware and software additions/deletions/modifications
  • Maintain current approved listing of personal computer hardware and software
  • Recommend and compile specifications for computer hardware and software
  • Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
  • Keep personal work area clean and free of clutter; keep common desktop areas neat, clean, and properly categorized.

HW Inventory Management:

  • Work with our shipping and receiving department to receive, inspect, record and store hardware
  • The tech assignment of new hardware installs request generated by Lawson's automated system
  • Process hardware earmarked for destruction
  • Other duties as assigned
