Position Summary

In the Procurement Center of Excellence (PCOE), our goal is to be the catalyst to propel Procurement’s business performance. In this highly critical role, we are looking for someone with in-depth experience in Procurement Technology, including IT sourcing, system implementation, strategic vendor selection, and performance management, as well as being the SME of all procurement technology market landscapes and trends. You will be leading the strategic planning of all procurement technology across the entire Source to Pay value chain, with selected scope for P2P. From roadmap development to the business case creation, you will work with the entire COE team and several critical business stakeholders to demonstrate the benefits and values that are aligned with the company vision. You will also analyze what is best for CBI given the maturity of the Procurement organization while ensuring the balance between process governance and multi-year technology investment. You will be working with cross-functional teams such as IT, Finance, Legal, Procurement product development pod, as well as the entire procurement team.

Acting as the lead procurement technology strategist, you will also lead a series of productivity improvement initiatives for all Procurement and pursue implementation to advance procurement capabilities through wider adoption of process automation & digitization, as well as ongoing system integration and upgrades. As the owner of the COE Technology Garage, you will host vendor demos for promising early-stage technology solutions and pilot testing potential business fit to drive innovation. This role will report directly to the Director, Procurement COE. Domestic and international travel required, up to 25% annually on an ad hoc basis. Full-time remote opportunity is open for discussion for qualified candidates. The preferred location will be Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

Lead the strategic planning and prioritization of procurement technology

  • Develop and maintain a multi-year roadmap of implementation of all source to pay procurement technology and ensure functional alignment  

  • Partner with COE subject matter experts on technology implementation to drive business objectives, focusing on achieving results for quality, cost, and on-time delivery

  • Streamline the technology purchasing process with cross-functional partners and implement best practices for business case development and impact analysis

  • Manage implementation consultants or temp resources on an as-needed basis

  • Prioritize the product backlog of initiatives by representing business needs and optimizing resources & capacity. Support initiatives by defining epics and user stories

  • Lead or participate in bid preparation, evaluations, reviews, negotiations, contracting & dispute resolution

  • Contribute to requirements, design, review, and test sessions

Enable Procurement performance through supplier relationship management, product performance, and digital capability building


  • Create innovation by benchmarking industry best practices for using procurement digital tools, develop new proposal and drive strategic roadmap development

  • Track and report on product performance and adoption. Work with vendors to ensure that products and/or services arrive and perform as requested

  • Host vendor demos for promising early-stage/start-up solutions and pilot testing potential business fit

  • Influence business partners to adopt new process changes that support the product vision and roadmap through effective change management

  • Lead organization capability development initiatives to develop and/or deliver training plans on new systems and functionality through e-learning, onboarding, and group training

  • Design and manage COE collaboration site for all procurement users. Introduce content and material to increase the organization’s digital savviness and willingness to adopt new processes or systems

Qualifications


  • 5+ years of  IT sourcing and/or strategy consulting

  • 3+ years of relevant experience

  • Business Administration or Engineering Degree (Allow Equivalent)

  • Understanding of or the ability to quickly learn digital practices with Procurement processes (Supplier Management, Procure to Pay, Purchasing, Advanced Sourcing, Category strategies, NPD, Supply Chain, Logistics)

  • Experience with Procurement (Sourcing, Supply Chain, NPD Sourcing, Supplier Development) and IT-related Functions building digital solutions

  • Developed communication skills and system thinking, and able to navigate and influence various levels of the organization

  • Ability to comprehend stakeholder needs effectively, communicate development plans, and track progress milestones

  • Broad base knowledge of business functions and related processes (Sourcing, Supply Chain, Quality, Operations, PLM, IT)

  • Understanding of Accounting, Finance & business administration

  • Project management intimacy

  • Analytical thinker and developed problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications


  • Bilingual English/Spanish

  • Past experience in data management, Analytics and Architecture solution build
