Job Description:

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Houston-Victoria is accepting applications for a tenure-track Associate or Full Professor of Counseling Psychology.   

The University of Houston-Victoria is a Hispanic-serving institution, located in the Coastal Bend region of southeast Texas. The main campus is in Victoria, TX, approximately 2 hours from Houston, Austin, Corpus Christi and San Antonio. It also offers a satellite campus in the greater Houston area (Katy, TX). The University of Houston-Victoria enrolls approximately 4,000 students.

The Counseling Psychology program is a graduate, Master’s level program that leads to licensure in the state of Texas in one of two tracks: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA). The program is hybrid, offering both online and face-to-face classes. Faculty also teach undergraduate Psychology courses as their schedule allows. This position will start in Fall 2023 and will be based at the Victoria campus.   

Required qualifications:  A doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a closely related Psychology field by starting date; demonstrated excellence in teaching; evidence of scholarly and professional activities. Applicant should hold an active license (Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Professional Counselor) or be license eligible in the state of Texas.  

Preferred qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates capable of teaching and providing clinical supervision in assessment and therapy courses. Candidates who have taught in a variety of course modalities are preferred. The ideal candidate would have interest in pursuing leadership opportunities within the program.   

Position summary:  Candidates will be required to teach a combination of courses (3/3) in the Counseling Psychology graduate and Psychology undergraduate program. Candidates are expected to participate in course and program development; pursue scholarly and professional activities; perform other duties as assigned by the dean and chair of the Psychology Department; and perform all other related activities as required.
