Position Overview

This role will provide comprehensive support to Proterra’s Factory leadership team. The OT Manager will provide leadership to enhance organizational capability through training, mentorship and operational support, and drive a cross functional high-performance work team environment, including plant and regional manufacturing technical resources, engineering and IT.

About the Role – You Will:


  • Develop and support business process for operational technology and coordinate with cross functional teams to ensure successful plant floor outcomes.

  • Maintain an inventory of assets for the process and basic controls areas as well as inventory count.

  • Coordinate schedules for maintenance and change activities between key groups.

  • Facilitate and support the manufacturing process and control systems within Operations, collaborating with Engineering, IT, Operations and Corporate management and vendor resources.

  • Assist with systems validation activities: Validation Plan, Risk Assessment, Protocols, Test Protocols, Change Requests etc.

  • Support business processes by gathering business requirements and tracking KPI/business metrics for key plant outcomes including company process control applications, process data collection systems, automated warehousing systems, OEE, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Environmental Health & Safety, etc.

  • Develop plant key performance metrics across OT environment.

  • Work closely with Manufacturing Operations Management and IT Operations Management to establish priorities, resolve technical problems, and maintain standardized documentation.

  • Establish onsite cadences with personnel to ensure reliability in everyday plant operations.

  • Provide leadership in knowledge transfer and implementation of approved standards and practices for manufacturing systems, including, PLC’s, field devices and their use with IT interconnected systems

  • Collaborate with cross functional team on manufacturing services / plant floor services.

  • Provide leadership in troubleshooting and root cause analysis to effectively resolve issues and deliver sustainable solutions while enhancing resource capability.

  • Provide leadership and management of staff in all the above areas to include all supervision, performance management, career development, and all other personnel related functions.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Your Experience Includes


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, science discipline or related field required.

  • 10+ years of experience managing and supporting controls and automation, and systems integration in a manufacturing, system integrator or OEM environment.

  • 4+ years of experience managing and supporting manufacturing process controls systems, networks and infrastructure.

  • 3+ years of experience within manufacturing industry as a practitioner and manager

  • 5+ years of experience managing manufacturing process control applications, supporting software and databases, support, and ongoing process improvement efforts.

  • 3+ years of experience developing and managing project plans, departmental and project budgets, and requests for capital

  • Master’s Degree in similar field preferred. Automation Professional Certification desired

  • Working experience in project management and coordination associated with the execution of capital projects in an industrial environment.

  • Experience with MES integration with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, preferably Oracle.

  • Experience with design of PCS, MES and associated Network Architecture.
