Job Description:

Job Summary

The overall purpose of this position is to provide management and administration of the day-to-day business operations and governance for the TAB Committee on Technical Community Outreach, Engagement and Society Membership. Their work will focus on: understanding efforts to develop technical communities, TA audience/participant/potential member topics, organizing events for Society/Council Vice Presidents of Membership to discuss key issues, developing tools to assist with S/C development of communities and membership, partnering with other OUs on engaging activities and working with (Corporate) Industry Outreach to develop new ways to engage industry professionals.

The position focuses on developing a strong partnership with the volunteer committee and leadership and will provide overall coordination & management of the group. This position will work with key staff and volunteer leadership in Societies and Councils to implement the programs, activities and projects initiated by the committee.

This position typically reports to the Sr. Manager, Volunteer Engagement and Business Programs and will work with the Director and staff of the Society Products and Audience Engagement group. The incumbent must have the ability to take the lead and work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities


  • Provide accurate, timely, proactive and professional direction to the TAB Committee on Technical Community Outreach, Engagement and Society Membership.

  • Collaborate to develop and implement strategic plans for the evolution of the Society/Council membership acquisition/development. This work will be done with the committee and staff in the Society Products and Audience Engagement group.

  • Oversee committee evaluation of the strategies, tactics and analysis necessary to deliver the best membership experience, including streamlining the on-boarding of prospective members as well as enhancing the engagement and retention of current members

  • Manage archive of best practices on membership development for current and future members of TAB and Society/Council leadership

  • Develop and manage templates and contact lists on membership development for current and future members of TAB and Society/Council leadership

  • Facilitate periodic forums with Committee and Society/Council VPs of Membership to share membership best practices, including retention, benefits, member pricing initiatives and marketing plans and other key issues affecting their operation

  • Facilitate Committee analysis for member engagement strategies that drives greater retention and recruitment of members contributing to total membership growth

  • Manage partnerships developed with TA, Society/Council and other IEEE OU Staff focused on membership engagement and development to execute membership outreach and engagement strategies

  • Other duties as needed

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Req


Work Experience


  • 4-7 years Req


Licenses and Certifications


  • Association, Non-Profit, project management and volunteer management experience Pref

  • Mastery of Microsoft Office programs required and mastery of Google Apps for Business preferred

  • Must be able to work during weekends and/or evenings as necessary

  • Ability to travel 15% of the year outside of the local region with valid travel credentials
