About the opportunity:

C&I is a full-service engineering design firm providing engineering/design/project management and procurement services to various clients. We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on Industrial Ventilation Design in our Louisville office to help us achieve our company mission. The Mechanical Team is responsible for preparing technical reports, studies, and design documents, performing calculations using engineering software, and preparing specifications for complex mechanical equipment and support systems. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in process system design and will be capable of developing design documents, including piping and instrument diagrams and equipment data sheets that incorporate the applicable design and safety requirements.

Responsibilities include:
 


  • Working independently and functioning as a Mechanical project lead on equipment and piping projects including planning, coordinating, scheduling, creating effort estimates, technical and construction document generation, checking, and quality review

  • Developing, interpreting, and reviewing utility and process P&IDs  and line designation tables

  • Developing engineering datasheets, specifications, technical bid evaluation, and construction scope of work documents

  • Performing detailed analysis and comprehensive calculations related to industrial ventilation, HVAC, and fixed equipment and mechanical systems (piping stress analysis is desirable)

  • Reviewing and commenting on vendor submittals

  • Delegating technical work to others

  • Traveling to client sites for equipment inspection and coordinating with others as needed

Minimum requirements:
 


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year ABET-accredited engineering program (or equivalent) and six (6) years of related work experience

    • OR, PE license and five (5) years of related work experience

    • An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered

  • General working knowledge or experience with ventilation, HVAC,  rotating and fixed equipment, mechanical systems (piping, hydraulics, pneumatics), metallurgy, and welding

  • Technical experience specifying Industrial ventilation, HVAC, Dust/Flume collection systems, and/or fixed and rotating equipment for heavy industrial clients

  • Technical experience with Caesar II, Compress, Nozzle Pro, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, HVAC design software, and knowledge of developing calculation worksheets in Excel

  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally to offices, vendor shops, and project sites. Travel is expected to be up to 10%

  • Valid Driver’s License

Qualifications that set you apart:

  • General understanding of ASME, NPFA, API, HI, NEMA, Welding, and other common industry guidelines

  • Prior Leadership experience
